[DISCUSSION] An open letter to the Streetwear mods. Posted: 13 Jun 2021 05:29 AM PDT Mods... What is going on here? It's a niche sub with 2.6million members, it needs some more aggressive moderation/gatekeeping, whatever you want to call it. If we don't have that, the essence of the sub falls apart. Same as any other sub. The quality of posts here is getting lower right now. The enforcement of rules here is low too. Is it lack of mods? Too much leniency? What's the issue? Do you need help? The whole point of reddit is to have a place for enthusiasts to gather around an interest. This is the gathering place for streetwear enthusiasts, yet many of the posts are not streetwear, are posted by people who think streetwear is 'clothes you wear on the street', or do not follow the rules of listing your fit. Shout out to the girl styling herself as a pokemon. You go girl, but this is not your sub. Shout out to the multiple posts where every item was bought from a fast fashion brand. Not your sub! Shout out to the 'influencers' trying to slyly boost your followers by assaulting every clothing sub in your AF1s. Not. Your. Sub. So, for those of us that joined this sub for the right reasons, what should we do? Just put up with the barrage of shit posts? Start a new sub and hope it catches on as the 'New r/streetwear'? Offer to become mods? For a sub this size there should be a horde of mods and a solid set of rules. No offence to the active mods, we see you out here doing your thing, but it is not enough in my opinion. I will happily offer my services to mod if that's required, but this conversation needed to be started. I'm writing this openly to give others a chance to contribute, should they wish to. EDIT: ok, toned some language down a bit. The world isn't ending, but I still stand by my view of the sub. ​ EDIT EDIT: Loving the 50% downvotes! Does that mean 50% are the old school and agree, 50% are the new beans that think it's just stuff you wear on the street?
