Weekly Self-Promo Megathread - Week of 9 April 2022

Posted: 09 Apr 2022 08:00 AM PDT

Welcome to the self-promo thread! Since we have put a pause on approving standalone advertising threads, all marketing efforts outside of this dedicated self-promo megathread are prohibited and will be removed.

This megathread is where you can tell people about your brand and content, WITH EXCEPTIONS:

  • No adult content. That means OnlyFans, etc. This is a thread for fashion and streetwear related content.
  • No buy/sell/trade listings. Reddit is a terrible place to do BST and we are not here to deal with the fallout of this kind of market. Go to Facebook Metaverse(?) Marketplace, Grailed, eBay, your local thrift shop, whatever. Just don't do it here.
  • Use established platforms like YouTube and Vimeo only (or link to a Reddit video you've uploaded somewhere else) for video content like vlogs and unboxings. No weird knockoff sites.
  • No spam.

Good luck, have fun, and we will adjust these rules as necessary.

r/streetwear what's your opinion of classic menswear vs streetwear?

Posted: 09 Apr 2022 10:20 AM PDT

I recently transitioned from menswear to streetwear and was wondering of everyone's view here on menswear. I mainly transitioned because I feel that streetwear is more expressionate and it starts conversations based on the pieces your wearing. Whereas, when I was wearing menswear people would often ask if I was going to an interview, and people always thought I was being stuffy and overdressing for the situation. A lot of the pieces also look similar and it's hard to differentiate yourself. Does anyone else feel the same way?

Don't get me wrong I still wear mens wear a lot from time to time. And I have a lot of classic Ralph Lauren pieces. But, I've seen some youtubers that take it to the extreme. It's weird because they'll complain about Supreme or Evisu being overpriced for a t shirt or pair of jeans, yet they'll buy an expensive chore coat with no branding on at all on it for anywhere around 500 to 1000 dollars lol.

I get that sometimes streetwear brands can have loud branding, but not every piece that Streetwear companies make has loud branding. I've found that some menswear pieces can be just as hard to match as streetwear pieces. For example, plaid blazers, or some houndstooth patterns can be hard to match.

The biggest negative that menswear fanatics make is they say that streetwear looks immature and that as people get older you will age out of it. Do you all think this assumption is true though? And what do you all think is better between streetswear or menswear?

I found this Visvim jacket for a really good price on Grailed, and it seems to be authenticated by Grailed, but is it too good to be true? Please check it out for me, thank you!![https://grailed.app.link/vVYY3tFZ5ob](https://grailed.app.link/vVYY3tFZ5ob)
