Japan second hand pick ups Posted: 06 Mar 2017 01:23 PM PST Hey guys, I recently got back from Japan and wanted to share my second hand shopping experiences by showing you all my pick ups. If you wanna skip my essay just view the full album of pick ups here, and fitpics here. Before I start I just want to say that if you're ever in Japan, DO NOT SLEEP on the second hand shopping. I've been three times and every time I've found cooler and cooler stuff. There's heaps of stores across the entirety of Japan, you just need to know where to look. They're all done extremely neatly to make it easy to find great brands for great prices, with exceptions to hype brands, and they also don't stock anything too beat and clean up the pieces really nicely. If you're willing to dig through the piles of gold you might stumble on a diamond. Cav Empt White Plague Hoodie - 16,000JPY / 140USD An absolute grail of mine, I found this on my second last day in Tokyo and my heart legit skipped a beat. Cav is hard enough to find over there so to find this for this price, and in near mint condition was legit insane. Number 1 cop of the whole trip Undercover 2000ss "One Rebel" T-Shirt - 1,900JPY / 17USD Cool finds like this are a bit harder to come by, but I love finding old stuff from brands I love. It's fairly faded but the print isn't even starting to, and for 17 bucks I can't complain Details: Tag / Back print Bape Long sleeve - 3,900JPY / 34USD Second hand Japanese brands are crazy cheap, but it's harder to find basic stuff like this since there's a lot of really wack pieces you need to sort through Cav Empt T-shirt - 3,000JPY / 26USD Although Cav Empt is Japanese, it's really popular over there, so pieces are harder to find Bapesta T-Shirt - 2,900JPY / 25.40USD Last purchase in Japan :'( Details: Back print Cav Empt "Gnosis" Long sleeve - Fit - 3,000JPY / 26USD I've actually had my eye on this piece on grailed for a while, so when I found this I had to cop. Great piece, great price Details: Back print Bape Chinos - 3,400JPY / 30USD Run of the mill chinos with a nice little bape patch Military Surplus BDU - Fit - 2,900JPY / 25.40USD I picked this up early in the trip and got heaps of use out of it Supreme 07AW "RESPECT THE WILD" Parka - 12,900JPY / 113USD I usually don't wear much colour so I bought this to expand my wardrobe, the patch is what really sold it to me. Details: Patch Undercover 1999-2000AW "Ambivalence" Work jacket - Fit - 4,700JPY / 41USD Old Undercover pieces seemed to be the trend this trip, this is piece 2 of 3 that are 15+ years old. Considering that this is in near-new condition for 40 bucks is crazy to me. The whole jacket features zips to take off sleeves and panels, very cool. Details: Tag Undercover 2000-2001AW "Melting Pot" Puffer jacket - Fit 1 / Fit 2 - 6,000JPY / 53USD I got so much use out of this jacket, it's crazy warm and has the same removable features as the work jacket. While this one wasn't in that great shape I love how chunky and cozy it looks. Details: Tag / Zip Cav Empt Beauty and Youth Exclusive Pink Overdye Hoodie - 9,900JPY / 87USD Another top purchase, so cheap for a sick Japan exclusive Cav Empt piece. I had to ask them to take this one off the display mannequin but they're all super helpful so don't be afraid to ask for anything you need. Details: Embroidery A.P.C Brown Crewneck - Fit - 1,600JPY / 14USD I always check for A.P.C in Japan because it's generally waaaay cheaper than retail, but the Japanese A.P.C has smaller sizing, so it's pretty hard to find my size Raf Simons Velcro Highs - Fit -16,000JPY / 140USD Another personal grail, price was good but not exceptional, but I've wanted these for a while so I pulled the trigger Nike Airforce 1 Mids - Fit - 2,100JPY / 18.40USD Cheap beat basics Annnnnd that's it, this was only my second hand pick ups so I might share my other retail purchases another time. A lot of "streetwear" Youtubers are the bad kind of hypebeasts with no fashion sense and may have moved onto more expensive brands. The problem is even if you're wearing more expensive brands like off-white, y-3, cav empt, you can still look terrible if you have no fashion sense such as not caring about the silhouette or wearing clashing, loud pieces for the "flex." It's usually a transition phase that lasts a bit. For some sneakerheads that jumped straight into higher end brands rather than gradually building their style, it takes longer than others to develop a sense of fashion. They need to learn putting together clothes can work with each rather than focusing on the brand flex. They need to learn how to put a fit together would look nice even without the brand recognition. Other channels that were excluded were ones that only wear super basic outfits (that's not bad) that are just not worth recommending. A Few Budget Techwear Alternatives (mostly military surplus) Posted: 05 Mar 2017 10:01 AM PST This has probably been done before but I've complied a list of some cheaper techwear/tech-inspired clothing. I haven't personally purchased many of these items but usually military surplus is pretty solid. I also used a lot of nike since that seems to be the best cheaper option for that urban ninja runner vibe thing. Lighter Outerwear Hoodie with a lot of pockets for your shurikens and shit Turtleneck fleece jacket Black field jacket with removable hood T A C T I C A L Fleece Jacket Tech Fleece Hoodie Asymmetrical Zipper Tech Fleece Heavier Outerwear Parkas are your best friend on a budget. Almost everyone makes them. Tech Parka 1 Tech Parka 2 Base Layer Just any shirt will work. Techwear isn't a thing in the summer. Here's a $13 turtleneck tho And a grid pattern layering shirt Pants Really nice tutorial from Elevated Ike (has link to all supplies in description) Nike Tech Fleece Shorts Tech Fleece Cropped Sweats Tech Fleece Joggers Tapered Cargos Shoes Air Presto Mid Utility- Very similar to ACRONYM's version Adidas Springblade- Almost sold out but might still be in store Converse One Star Tech 74- Almost sold out but might still be in store Accessories This can be the most important thing to focus on if you're on a budget. Neck Gaiters Belt Be creative with this part. You can even make a belt using those nylon parachute straps.
