thanks r/streetwear for helping me develop my passion for photography and style

whats up r/streetwear fam,

first off, you guys are all amazing. i have learned so much from lurking and rarely posting fit pics, but all of you are so kind (for the most part) and always have good feedback.

anyways, just today i bought my first quality camera (Canon Rebel t6). i was so excited when i walked into that best buy you guys have no idea. the lady helping me approached me and said "you look like you're on a mission, what can i help you with?" and that made my day. but for real, i'm 15 and i work as a busboy at a local restaurant in town. i had saved up all my tips and paychecks and finally bought my camera.

here are the pics that my dad took of me today. they are all unedited. i wanna say thanks to you guys because i come from a stuck up rich school where everyone wears khaki shorts and vineyard vines shirts so i kinda use the "fuck you we do what we want" motto and not give a shit what they say.

shoutout to my main inspiration u/SupremeBlackGuy and u/realrussianspy because y'all are awesome! have a great day/night everyone!

why do people let Neek Lurk rip them off?

Posted: 30 May 2017 02:03 AM PDT

So I came across his insta recently and noticed that in a lot of his recent posts are people asking for their stuff to get shipped from all the way to last fall. So why do people let Neek take their money only to have him ship super late or not at all? It's kinda funny that he's basically a scammer on a big level

Personal Album of Menswear and Streetwear Fit Pics

Posted: 29 May 2017 07:33 PM PDT

Accumulated a bunch of random photos, spanning a couple years, of different outfits. They're all pretty much exclusively autumn and winter attire, but I definitely plan on taking more pics this summer to add to this album and give it some balance. If you guys don't care to see the menswear fits just scroll to around 16 or 17 photos down, as that's where I began putting the outfits that are more on the streetwear side of the spectrum. Also prepare yourself to see some messy rooms, my apologies.

I welcome any comments and critiques you guys have for me, hope you enjoy the album.

Thoughts on Old Navy?

Posted: 29 May 2017 11:34 AM PDT

I'm poor so I can't really afford much higher end clothing, but I need some shorts and I know Old Navy has a good selection. Generally are their clothes bad or something? I know I'll probably get roasted for wearing anything from Old Navy but I just wanted some other opinions.

Best place for dirt cheap yet banging clothes?

Posted: 29 May 2017 03:50 PM PDT

Basically im young and poor and am looking for some cheap plain and basic tees, shorts and sweatshirts that still fit nice and are comfy to wear. I have some old plain basic primark tees that i picked up for around £3 each this was a while ago but everytime ive been back since they dont have quite the same style or quality im after. If anyone could give me some good alternatives it would be much appreciated :)

Stolen design on Zumiez and DROPOUT CLUB INTL by scummy @nafisetemadi

Posted: 28 May 2017 05:47 PM PDT

Hi all. I'm an independent artist and co-founder of The Bower Studio. This guy Nafis Etemadi / @nafisetemadi / u/_naf has quite a reputation here and he's up to his shitty scumbag BS again. He pretty much traced my artwork (which I copyrighted in 2015) and it is now a t-shirt on DROPOUT CLUB INTL and Zumiez:

http://www.zumiez.com/dropout-club-intl-floral-skull-tie-dye-muscle-tank-top.html http://www.dropoutclubintl.com/product/nafis-etemadi-skull-garden

This is my drawing: https://www.thebowerstudio.com/products/skull-garden-print

The guy is dumb enough to have given it the same freaking title. I am going to pursue legal action but in the meantime DO NOT BUY THIS CRAP. Support honest independent artists. I am lucky enough to have thought ahead and copyrighted the drawing but most of the time artists just get screwed over.

Can we get some graphic t shirt + shorts inspo going for summer?

Posted: 28 May 2017 09:30 PM PDT

I know people are complaining that /r/streetwear is becoming less and less creative, but I went outside today with a black GUE$$ tee, light blue levi jeans, and cdg x converse for a good 30 minutes walk and I couldnt handle the heat.

Now, I want to see what kind of outfit I can rock while its 80 F outside. But when I come to /r/streetwear all I see is people still rocking bombers, hoodies, sweaters... Even a simple flannel is too hot for me.

That's why I would like to see some inspo albums or WDYWT threads containing simple shorts + t-shirts. I wanna see the different colour coordinations with the tees, shorts, and kicks and see the different styles of t shirts, maybe even different graphic tees. This is the type of fit I would like to see except in different colour/pattern/graphics and shoes maybe.

Like lets be honest, its not like slapping different graphics on bombers is any more creative then showing off different graphics on tees. I see posts showing the t shirt but rarely ever any fit pics.

[Discussion] Thoughts on these?

Posted: 28 May 2017 06:55 AM PDT

Photography DOES matter, here's why.

Posted: 28 May 2017 02:50 PM PDT

Now to preface, I'm saying that the quality of the photo of your fit matters when your posting it online. Obviously the quality of your camera doesn't affect your fit irl. I'm also not saying that the content of your photo should overshadow your fit. A mediocre fit in front of a cool car or on top of a building doesn't make it better.

I am specifically saying that a clear, high resolution photo that distinctly contrasts one's fit with the backdrop, should be celebrated when it comes to sharing photos of fits online. Yes, it does not change how good the fit is, but it objectively changes how one perceives the fit. Some things such as tonal contrasts, textures, and nuances in shapes just cannot be perceived through bad photography.

I feel like good photography gets such a bad rep that it's almost a meme on this sub. I'm not saying I don't think a picture of a mediocre mallcore fit in an all white room deserves 2000+ ups, but good photography will allow a viewer to see a fit in its 100%. A poor photo will not. And thus it makes sense why poor photos don't get a lot of love even if the fit itself is fine.
