What triggers you to buy clothes from a certain brand?

Posted: 02 Jul 2017 01:23 AM PDT

So as the title suggests, what are the things that you look for in a brand that makes you want to buy from them? Mine are:

*A critically thought out concept behind the design -Honestly some of the references made by other streetwear brands seem so random to me that it comes off as lazy. I think cohesiveness in an idea is key.

*Quality of fabric -Self explanatory.

*Designs that are made with effort. -This ties in with the 1st bullet i think, plus I really dont like photo tees.

*Consistent branding -Consistent branding tells me that a brand has its own identity and mission. But relying too much on the brand logo or "over-branding" comes off as boring and lazy.

Things y'all would want to see in a YouTube channel?

Posted: 01 Jul 2017 12:33 PM PDT

I plan on starting one sometime in late July/early August. I don't want it to be the conventional men's fashion YouTube wherevall they do is talk about clothes they bought and hyped pieces. I really want to be delving into the history and style of designer/streetwear in attempts to educate people (and of course have my opinions on them). At least, that's the premise.

Tbh, I think some of my favorites fashion youtubers are Sangiev (actually stylish) and Pingy (authenticity).

So, I guess what I'm trying to ask is what's more important between:

  1. production and content?

  2. Accessibility (for people to talk to me, ask questions etc) or obscurity?

  3. The % of objectivity vs subjectivity in content?

  4. Doing things with budgeted options or just going all out?

And if there's any gripes about the problems with current fashion/streetwear YouTube or anything like that, I'd love to hear it. The goal is to really not be as boring as most style youtubes and to have interaction.

If you're starting to just get into dressing well, a few tips to get started.

Posted: 30 Jun 2017 09:10 AM PDT

I'm sure i'm not alone on this when there have just been an incredibly large amount of posts / questions posted that are super basic and sometimes are honestly outright stupid.

I thought i'd attempt to give out a few helpful tips that would help the newer people into this hobby. This will most likely be redundant for people who know what they're doing.

Tip 1 - !!! BUILD A BASIC WARDROBE BEFORE HYPE PIECES / BRANDS!!!

This is one of the big things wrong with a lot of fits i see these days. They'll be wearing a Supreme shirt / hoodie but then i'll fitting chinos or jeans or something and just looks off, and makes you look just generally bad.

Make sure you have basics before chasing after any brand name pieces. Black / White shirts of decent quality, Earth tones and Pale tones will always be really good and can later be "upgraded" into those hype pieces that you still enjoy.

Good quality jeans too to get you started is really easy. You can find good quality Jeans at Uniqlo and cheapish Acne on eBay if you know your size.

Places to pick these up.

  • ASColor : Bulk Deals on buying multiple shirts and great quality. These do run a little long so just beware, they're just a little bit longer than my other shirts.

  • UNIQLO : Greatest place on earth for just getting into fashion, no big brand names and great quality for the price.

Tip 2 - Take your pants to a tailor!

This one is also a bit of a no brainer, but the question seems to still pop up about skinny / slim jeans and none of them fitting you.

Buy a pair of straight leg trousers / pants / jeans / whatever you want that fit comfortably around your waist and get them tailored specifically to your leg and it will be literally infinitely better fitting than any other pair of pants.

It's incredibly inexpensive depending on the tailor and will provide some great results.

Tip 3 - !!! TAKE ADVICE !!! - edited

I guess i wasn't really clear on this tip i guess.

If you're posting a fit or something, and someone gives you maybe some small tips / advice on how to improve it, consider it! Don't just think "nah this guy is wrong i'll dress for myself."

Think about what he's saying and imagine it. The advice can be as small as "Different color belt would be nice." or even "Consider a slimmer shirt to fit your figure better." Just consider it or try it out in store and if you still don't like it, then that's fine!

I can guarantee you a lot of the people who post here today have taken advice in the past and it will help you grow as a person in style and how you give advice in the future.

You may or may not agree with my opinions here but either way they will help the newer people getting into fashion.
