/R/Streetwear Major February Changes Posted: 11 Feb 2018 05:25 PM PST The great /r/streetwear changing. Welcome to the /r/Streetwear February changelog. Some of this is not gonna make much sense, some of it is. Please feel free to ask questions. Inevitably some of these changes are gonna be controversial. It always happens. The mod team is confident that all of these changes are for the best, and also certain that they can be reverted if needed. If you would like to read a more in-depth explanation of the WDYWT changes please see here. Without further ado: /R/STREETWEAR CHANGELOGRecurring threads:

Regarding WDYWT Megathread and Whitelist changes Posted: 11 Feb 2018 05:26 PM PST WDYWT megathreads are now sorted by contest mode (Random order with karma hidden). This is to diminish the idea that the WDYWT threads are some type of contest, and encourages people to give specific feedback using comments for fits they like. It also removes the whole element of trying to be the first to post on the WDYWT threads (which can be discouraging for some people), and the general problem of downvote brigading in the fight to be on top. Lastly, it gives users to form their own opinions about people's fits, rather than letting the amount of upvotes a fit has influence how good they think an outfit is. Overall, we want to encourage variety as well as discussion about outfits, and give newer users an opportunity to garner feedback, rather than have the thread be a circle jerk for karma and self-validation. For those of you who want to see the "best" fits, at the end of each week, a "best of" thread will be compiled so everyone has an easy to digest summary of the best fits each week. Because of this, we still encourage voting (even if no one can see or sort by it), just to make life for us mods (me specifically) a bit easier. With these changes, comes changes to the WDYWT Whitelist application. There will no longer be a karma requirement, but a more extensive application process that requires 15 fits and some written portions. We hope that this way, variety and quality of posts are more heavily encouraged, and that the whitelisters add "personality" to the page through sharing what streetwear means to them. While this process is in a way "more subjective", we will judge on quality of fit, what the user brings to our current list of whitelisters, and photography (to expand, we won't reward "cool" photos. By photography, we mean clear pictures that capture details and proportions of an outfit). Lastly, the mods understand some recent grievances about certain whitelisters posting outfits that are not "streetwear" enough. We see where all the users are coming from, and will talk with the current whitelisters about self-filtering the content they post to the front page, but we also encourage everyone to open their minds a little bit and understand that streetwear has become a very broad and versatile fashion movement. Streetwear is built on clothing from countercultures that disrupt the mainstream; it's only natural that it disrupts our preconceived notions of what streetwear traditionally is. Hong Kong Trip / Fashion Books / Modeling experiences Posted: 11 Feb 2018 07:05 PM PST This is a three part post : 1 : Going to Hong Kong and need some recommandations for shops and thrifts. Also wanna meet new peeps so if you have some spot where people interested in fashion, arts, music go to that would be nice! 2 : I'm going to fashion school next year in my hometown. Have all the basic information and some in deep but wanna have more knowledge when it will be class time. You guys have some books or others thing that can help me in that? 3 : I've been approached by modeling agency recently and i found it quite interesting as it can offer me opportunities in the fashion industry and make money by the side of it. For the people that are or have been doing it, is it nice? Do you get treated right? Have you learned things out of it? Give me experiences of your own. All comment appreciated in advance :) [link] [comments]

PSA: Don't buy from Perspectives Global (in the near future) Posted: 11 Feb 2018 07:04 AM PST I see these types of posts all the time regarding smaller, start-up, or Instagram brands, but I didn't really expect to have this experience with a relatively thriving brand that has a small presence on this subreddit. I bought a parka from them over two weeks ago, on Friday 1/26/18, and paid for 2-day express shipping because I needed to receive it by the next weekend. Order confirmed, everything's alright. Except by the time next Friday rolls around, my order still hasn't shipped. I reach out to Cody, one of their customer service reps, and he explains that they had just moved their fulfillment center and were experiencing delays - so sorry, I'll refund your shipping cost, I promise it will 100% ship out next week. Okay, perfect. Except it doesn't even ship out the next week. Now it's been over two weeks, and my order is still frozen. I email Cody, and their multiple help emails at info@perspectives, support@perspectives, help@perspectives... nothing. No response. Now, I'm looking at the third week after I placed my order. I desperately need my order in this week, because I'm leaving the country soon (as I explained to Cody in my emails) - if I don't get it in this week, I guess I'll file a credit card dispute. However, I wanted to warn you guys not to buy from them in the near future - I'm sure that they've completed a lot of orders in the past, but at the moment, maybe due to the fulfillment center moving around, they've delayed my order for over two weeks, made promises they couldn't keep, and ignored my emails. I'll provide screenshots if anyone wants them. [link] [comments]

Is there any good way to cuff jeans with zippers at the bottom? Posted: 11 Feb 2018 03:00 PM PST I recently bought a pair of size 30 M4 jeans from mnml. I'm a pretty short dude (5'5) and I can tell these jeans were made for a 6ft twig. I have a lot of space for my waist but the thighs are tight as a motherfucker and the length is way longer than my legs. If I don't cuff them the stack looks really bad but if I do cuff them they look really bulky. Is there a way to cuff these so they don't look stupid? Or should I just get them tailored so the length matches my body? [link] [comments]
What kind of shoulder bags etc do you use? Posted: 11 Feb 2018 07:04 AM PST Been thinking of getting a new shoulder bag, and was curious as to what you guys carry with you. I've been thinking of these kind of bags, does this style have a name or something? [link] [comments] |
