[DISCUSSION] Back to school season, what backpacks are you guys rocking?

Posted: 12 Aug 2018 07:05 PM PDT

I'm on the hunt for a new backpack before heading back to school in the fall. I'm currently using a Herschel Little America, but looking for something slightly smaller (and maybe a little less cliché). Personally, I've had my eye on a Hudson Sutler, and am looking for something in the < $100 price range. However, for the sake of discussion, feel free to post whatever!

So, r/streetwear, what backpacks are you guys rocking this fall?

[DISCUSSION] Why are so many sneakerheads have such a horrible taste in clothing

Posted: 12 Aug 2018 01:41 PM PDT

Okay, so I am aware that this is a generalization but I'm sure that many of you are gonna know what I'm talking about. You have fuckloads of these guys (feel like majority of them are from the US) who are insanely into sneakers. I respect how knowledgeable and dedicated they are. However I sometimes find it so bizzare that these man spend loads of time and cash to get some super rare 90s version of Jordan 1s only to wear them with with Levi's 501, some generic Nike tee and a fucking full cap (them ones should be banned i swear to god). I get it that for them it's like a collecting hobby, but can someone explain to me why would you spend fuck loads of resources on your creps , but wouldn't dedicate the fraction of that time to get rid of the neckbeard and buy some decent garms ... Sorry for the long rant, just had it on my mind for a while

[Discussion] What are some examples of 'timeless' outfits and essential pieces of clothing?

Posted: 11 Aug 2018 07:27 PM PDT

Basically asking what you guys think are some examples of outfits and styles that are always considered fashionable and never really go out of style.

Similar but what would be a good list of 'essential' articles of clothing everyone (who's interested in fashion) should own?

Conversely, what are some examples of outfits and styles that have aged/will age very badly and we'll look back on like 'what were we thinking'? For example, i find myself doing this with the old yeezy type style with skinny ripped jeans, low/extended shirt, yeezys or combat boots, bleached hoodies, bombers, etc that was popular a couple years ago.

[DISCUSSION] What are some cool tech-style streetwear brands that dont cost a ton of money?

Posted: 11 Aug 2018 08:24 PM PDT

I'm trying to get some nice clothes but most of the brands I like are very expensive, most of them unnecessarily expensive. Some of my favorite designers include Y-3, heron preston, georrge olivier, carhartt, guerilla group, bape, brigade usa, m+rc noir, representclothing, brain dead, mr completely, and stuff like that. All of these are really expensive. And prices for designers like Heron Preston are WAY unnecessarily high. I used to get clothes at Zumiez or superrradical or teamsesh and stuff like that, but they have shitty quality and barely last. I'm looking for brands that make good clothes but aren't insanely pricy. What are your favorite brands that are cool and affordable at the same time?

[Discussion] What happened to whoisjacko?

Posted: 12 Aug 2018 12:19 AM PDT

I don't know if anyone remembers but there used to be a kid in Montreal , Canada named Jacques KOUAMÉ. He went MIA and used to be like consider one of the earlier influences of the youth with along with Luka Sabbat in the early days like prior to 2015. I just find it weird and was wondering if something happened that I'm not aware of cause all media despaired even the one I was interested grabbing some fits for a inspo album.

[DISCUSSION] Market Manipulation in Fashion / Streetwear

Posted: 11 Aug 2018 06:16 AM PDT

Does anyone feel like AWGE (Ian Connor, asap rocky, other young creatives) are getting together and attempting to create trends and change what we wear in order to push certain brands? Do you believe this is reducing/increasing individuality in streetwear? I am fully under the impression that this is fully happening and I believe this manipulation of the market started around the beginning of the yeezy clothing line - anyone else agree or have different opinions on this.

although I entirely believe this I still like the way streetwear is going

Evidence for this includes: - the rise of alyx - baggy trousers - dad shoes - "yeezy season" - Ian connor's own brand revenge storm - rocky discussing this on the trevor Noah show link to this

[Discussion] Streetwear for tall guys

Posted: 11 Aug 2018 05:29 AM PDT

Any fellow tall and slender dudes here? I'm 2m and 87kg (6'7 and 195lbs) and dressing is different for me than for small people.

Do you think I could pull off straight pants + baggy clothes as well as some shorter guys? Do you think some shoes look silly on large feet? I also would like to know your favourite tall people-friendly brands.
