[DISCUSSION] is wearing a belt with shorts wack?

Posted: 26 Sep 2018 03:48 AM PDT

Basically as the title said is it wack? Recently bought a sick belt but summers coming in so shorts it is. Y'all reckon I'd be able to rock a belt with shorts? I know some of y'all will say wear pants but I can't wear pants in summer it's stifiling out here. Haven't seen any fits displaying this so thanks for the advice and stuff.

Hope you all have a great day :)

Need to get up to the character count so The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. The cow jumped over the moon. Twinkle twinkle little star how I wonder what you are. Shorts shorts belt belt shoes shoes. This is a lot of characters you have to reach damn.

[DISCUSSION] what do you think about pin rolled denim? (denim fit in general)

Posted: 25 Sep 2018 09:13 PM PDT

I feel like that trend kind of went out with chino and denim joggers but I threw a pin roll on my jean with some doc martins the other day and was really digging it. I feel like as a trend denim has shifted back to the wider side. However I still think a slim through the thigh to knee and skinnyish taper from knee to ankle is a great look. Thoughts?

Supreme Nike Early [REVIEW]

Posted: 25 Sep 2018 08:26 AM PDT

Hey guys, I was able to get the supreme Nike crewneck and sweatpants early, so I decided to make a video on them. They are pretty nice overall, but definitely look like some basic Nike pieces I own. They aren't quite as think as a regular Supreme hoodie, but would be too hot for me to wear in any season other than Winter. They are good pieces with nice detail as far as the leather Nike logo, but I wouldn't recommend buying them for anything above retail. These pieces are a little basic until you appreciate the vintage inspiration. So if vintage isn't your thing, then I would recommend not buying these.

Here's my YouTube video on them: Review

[Review] Studio Ghibli 'Ponyo' embroidered souvenir jacket

https://i.redd.it/71itotrwgao11.jpg

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Studio Ghibli's famous animation film "Ponyo", GBL (Ghibli themed fashion brand) has created this cute souvenir jacket (aka sukajan)!

The velveteen jacket features intricate embroidery designs on sleeves, chest and the back. You can check the details from below. It's well made and really gorgeous.

Although this jacket is JAPAN EXCLUSIVE, I recommend this to all Ghibli fans that love fashion!

[Discussion]NYC modeling

What are the best agencies in NYC?

Also, have any of you (preferably in NYC) ever tried modeling? If so, what do you recommend I do before pursuing this career?

Might not be a suitable thread for this subreddit, but I'll give it a shot anyway since most of you here are beautiful, well-dressed creatures.

All the love.

[Review] Hard Light Paint Splatter Shirt Review

Posted: 24 Sep 2018 07:41 AM PDT

Hard Light Paint Splatter T-Shirt Review

I'm going to break this review down into 4 sections - Concept, Quality, Fit, and Style.

Hard Light is an Australian based brand, run by /u/nitewarlord that I saw on on /r/StreetwearStartup. The shirts immediately grabbed my attention with the messy designs and unique concepts.

You can fine a few product shots and a fit pic here, however it's worth nothing that the fit pic is only to provide a full body shot of the shirt - this isn't really how I'd style it normally.

Without further ado, the review:

Concept

The first drop is described as "deliberate manipulation of garments by using tools", and honestly I think that captures the concept pretty well despite how generic it sounds. The shirt doesn't look pristine and crisp, it looks grungy and industrial. The paint splatters provide a messy look and the non-centred graphic and silver strip provide a sort of odd, experimental vibe. The idea of 'deliberate manipulation using tools' shows with the different way the shirt has been created - paint, the graphic, and the silver strip.

Now, I didn't read the product description because I'm not a sucker. Had I read this, I would have seen the following:

The multi-colour paint splatter effect is done by hand so that each piece will include a unique pattern. The [HARD LIGHT] square graphic is screen printed using plastisol ink and a strip of duct tape is securely fused with the cotton fabric.

Yes, that's right - the silver strip is duct tape. It's been secured on using some sort of glue over the top (I'm assuming that's what it is) so I'm not worried about it coming off, but this is the first time I've seen this done. Honestly, it looks a bit weird. But I love that this idea was experimented with and ended up producing a pretty cool result.

Overall, I think the concept is cool and well designed.

Quality

It's a blank. Not much else to say. The price is very reasonable so don't except super fancy shirts - it's simple, it's probably going to fall apart at some point, but it feels alright. No idea what the blank is, the label is in Chinese except the brand label and 'fashion' in the collar.

The plastisol ink used for the logo makes me worry that it's going to crack or crease quickly. Ironing and tumble drying are no go's for this shirt as they will ruin the graphic.

Tape feels securely fastened.

Fit

Speaking of Chinese, the shirts are small. The website has two sizes listed - the size on the blank, and the size adjusted for not being from China. I ordered a M because I didn't understand this, thinking a 3XL was gonna fit baggy as fuck. Order your true size - the M just fits me, and I should have gone up a size. Had I read the product description, I would have seen that the model is 30cm shorter than me and wearing a size larger.

Style

In the fit pic I provided I went with cropped pants and undefeated air max 97's. I don't love this - because I ordered a size too small and I'm wearing cropped pants my feet obviously look bulky. This isn't usually something I care that much about, but when I want to have the shirt as the focus of the fit I haven't done a good job of it.

I feel like a more grungy vibe is going to be how I style it - most likely with doc martens and some black pants and draw the focus the the shirt. Since this is a black t-shirt, there's actually not that much you can't wear it with. I know you all only wear black anyways, so it'll match your wardrobe.

As I mentioned in the fit section, I should have ordered a size up. The shirt is pretty form fitting on me, however it also sits a little short than i would usually wear a shirt. Make sure you order the size you would normally wear.

One thing I don't like about the shirt is in the paint splatter - red, green, orange, blue, and white paint has been used, however I don't think I would have included the green. It's a very different colour to the others that just feels a little off to me. The actual pattern of the splatters themselves are good, no huge blocks of colour or particular paint that stands out hugely agains the rest. I think the shirt would still have been cool without the splatter, and maybe would have been a bit more versatile but in the spirit of the concept I think it works well.

The logo is pretty pleasing to look at and the chosen colours stand out nicely. There's nothing crazy going on with it but I'm happy with the design.

Overall

Overall, I'm pretty happy with the shirt. At $25AUD it provides an interesting design, and basic quality. The duct tape is a nice touch and a unique way to create an interesting shirt.
