[DISCUSSION] PSA - Fraudulent streetwear companies lurking in the subreddit

Posted: 11 Nov 2018 04:13 AM PST

While browsing a thread on cheap streetwear recently, I came across this comment leading to Newretro.net. The clothes have some okay designs. But the site is super sketchy, for a number of reasons.

  1. Right off the bat, they compare the clothes to Nordstrom. A big claim, but not wholly unreasonable, if not for the following:
  2. The reviews are all fake. All of them. Every review is 4 or 5 stars, and they are copy and pasted from page to page.
  3. Every "sale" item says "only 13 items left!" which leads me to believe that the sale countdown timer is superficial also.
  4. Every item is available on Aliexpress for significantly less.

There are hundreds of sites out there like this, and this kind of thread may have been posted before. But stores like this one prey on people that might not know better, so hopefully some of those people see this and can save their money.

If the comment gets deleted, it was posted by /u/sendikali.

[Discussion] Pants Style Question

Posted: 10 Nov 2018 06:35 PM PST

I recently started kickboxing and am in the market for a certain style of pants. I figured that streetwear fashion would fit the category for what I'm looking for and I'm sure many of you have a billion answers!

I do not like wearing shorts at kickboxing or in general, I am currently just wearing baggy sweatpants which works but it's not ideal. I have been looking for something almost like compression pants but not as crazily tight (for obvious reasons, I am a guy). This being said, I don't even know the name of the type of pants I'm looking for so you can imagine I'm completely lost.

Preferably the pants I am looking for would be very slimfit, athletic material (not cotton or knit). tapered near the bottom so they aren't baggy in the legs, basically sort of like leggings but with a little bit more room (not as much as sweatpants though). I have noticed some soccer players with the type of pants I am describing but cannot find anything like them online.

Lastly, I am trying my best to AVOID zippers on my pants as I can only imagine it would hurt someone or myself during striking.

I hope someone can point me in the right direction, I'd greatly appreciate it!

[DISCUSSION] You get $7000 to spend on Streetwear... on ONE condition.

Posted: 10 Nov 2018 03:34 AM PST

For each item you have to give a statement on WHY you want to buy it. "Because it's hyped" doesn't count, "Because a celebrity wore it " "I'd resell it" "For the CLOUT XD" none of those count. Try and keep it serious and discover what you and others truly enjoy in this art form we call streetwear.

[DISCUSSION] Men's Boots

Hello fellas,

I've been wearing sneakers pretty much my whole life (Nike gang - I've suddenly fallen in love with boots. Particularly military/combat style boots (which as far as I know tend to be a bit taller - like the Yeezy Combat Boots for example).

I recently came across these on IG - can anybody either help me ID them or point me in the way of something similar?

Yeet

Many thanks & Muchos Graçias in advance.

PS - Fuck Vapormax 2.0

[DISCUSSION] Streetwear for Really Tall People

Posted: 09 Nov 2018 09:05 PM PST

Aight so I'm somewhat new to streetwear like I have a few pieces and what not but I'm trying to get into it more cuz I'm starting to get some $$ to actually buy some clothing with. But unfortunately for streetwear purposes I am 6'8" tall and like 190 so clothing in general is hard to buy, but streetwear is especially difficult cuz sizing varies per brand and what not. So my question is are there are any other giraffes out there who can fit certain brands? If there are any, please tell me so I can focus my efforts on those brands instead of wasting my time looking for shit like CDG that will never fit me in a million years

A local store just posted this and it seems like an insane deal. I haven't gone to look at it in person but from the photos it seems very lightly used. I've never owned CG so I have no idea if this is worth it for the brutal Midwest winters I love every year.

[DISCUSSION] Looking in Seoul&&Busan for clothing stores and drinking buddies

Posted: 09 Nov 2018 10:24 PM PST

In Seoul (mainly) and Busan (2-3 days) for about 3 weeks from today.

Yes there is a search bar; I know. I'm looking for more specific names of stores rather than an entire area of Seoul/Busan. I'm looking mainly for some decent outerwear and shoes. I'm not really looking for brand names, and my size might be an issue (XL, 38 waist) so if anyone has any store recommendations that tailor to those fat boi specs, I would greatly appreciate it.

I'm also looking for stuff to do while I'm here. I'm half Korean, but I have the vocabulary of a 6 year old and don't know shit about the culture except the drinking. If anyone's down to get lit or knows whats really good hmu pls I play nice.

PS if anyone got the plug out in Seoul or Busan I'm very interested. Gas or anything else but meth and heron, etc. I know its expensive as a bitch and I know the risks. Thnx

[DISCUSSION] Stone Island Hype

Posted: 09 Nov 2018 04:49 PM PST

I feel like I missed this one. Why is it hype? I mean, nothing they make is bad but I've never seen a piece they've made that is exciting imo. I couldn't tell you the difference between any stone island piece and any other similar generic piece, aside from the arm patch. Why is it so hot right now? Am I missing something? Is there something behind the brand/patch that makes it cooler than I think? Are they super high quality? Fit nice? It just seems too bland to be so hype.

Bought 3m reflective places coat off depop and in photos when it's lit up it looks so dirty and is covered in marks that only show up in the flash/photo, don't know how previous owner got it like this, but is there any way I can clean it or do anything to help?
