[DISCUSSION] Calvin Klein 205W39NYC.. What could have been.

Posted: 12 Jan 2019 12:14 AM PST

It's such a shame what happened between Raf and the Calvin Klein deal. In my opinion, some of the most creative and ambitious interpretations of classic Americana mixed with a youthful feeling of.. New-ness, for lack of a better term.

A few years from now, I have no doubt in my mind that 205 will have a massive cult following and will be revered as either ahead of it's time, or just simply very underrated. With certain pieces appropriating in value as more time passes by. Hell, a lot of that following has already been building up it seems since the announcement of Raf's departure.

I enjoyed the ride, hope those who appreciated it did also. Whether you bought anything or not. For those who did enjoy the collections, what items were your favourite? For those who didn't care or flat out didn't like much of what was released, why? Genuinely curious to have some discussion here.

For me, I would 100% have to say the steel toe cap ankle boots. (Original answer, I know), but how could you not love it if you're into boots? Beautiful piece of footwear I tell ya.

Cheers!

Are they a good streetwear item, or completely out of line eshay/lad fashion? Was considering buying one just for the practicality but I thought I'd check how they are perceived first. Cheers

[DISCUSSION] Anyone interested in Louis Vuitton SS19?

Posted: 11 Jan 2019 05:37 PM PST

I'm genuinely not trying to come across as some douche who only dresses in designer and wants to talk about it to inflate my ego. I can't afford LV but I genuinely think designer is some of the most interesting clothing out there and I wanted to discuss it with anyone who feels the same way.

That being said, I'm not sure quite what I think of Virgil's first collection as a whole. I like certain pieces such as the leather chest accessories but I feel like as a whole the show can be broken down into three avenues of exploration that Virgil wanted to communicate: Wizard of oz graphic-centric, luxury tactical, and pale wave nouveau. Individually I like the ideas behind every one of them but all together I didn't feel like it made for a cohesive line. I'd say I much prefer Kim Jones' work at LV and Dior for his ability to also have distinct styles within a show and yet have all of them work towards a singular vision.

Let me know what you guys think!

[Discussion] What are some items you love but would never wear?

Posted: 11 Jan 2019 09:13 AM PST

For example, in my case MM tabis are some shoes that really grew on me. At first I really hated them, but I learned to appreciate the history behind the boot and in a good fit they do wonders. But I would never wear them because they don´t fit my style and they are way too out there to wear where I live. Tell me what are yours and the reason! It could be price point, not matching your style at all, availability, etc.

[DISCUSSION] Stone Island fit for skinny guy

Posted: 11 Jan 2019 10:00 AM PST

Wondering what size should I be purchasing in Stone Island for their sweatshirts? Currently wear size small in all of my shirts/jackets/sweaters. Very skinny so I'm assuming I could try to wear size small since it's TTS. I have a short torso which makes my arms a bit longer. I'm 5'9" and wear 33in. for dress shirts if that helps. Thanks

EDIT: Only weigh about ~120lb if that helps

[DISCUSSION] A new sub might be the solution!

Posted: 10 Jan 2019 01:45 PM PST

I truly believe that a new sub might be the solution for r/streetwear's current "problem" .

This sub is quite big and if it keeps being like this I think the possibility that someone will create a new sub will become bigger and bigger. This often happens to subreddits where the users don't agree with the mods/community anymore. Personally I and probably a lot of other users would really enjoy a new sub with less strict rules. However I can't really imagine that the mods of the new sub would be able to manage their subreddit very well or gain any attention since they probably don't have too much experience.

Because of that I think r/streetwear should do it themselves before anyone else does! r/streetwear could create a second sub that cooparates with this sub. A sub without a whitelist where the rules are less strict. The low effort fits, shitposts and mirror pictures could be posted onto there. This subreddit could then post the best fits with the most upvotes on here. That would give non-whitelisted users a chance to get on top of this sub. But this wouldn't solely benefit the users. r/streetwear could also benefit from this since they will have less low effort fits, shitposts, often asked questions and less of a mess in general. They could even find new users who would fit onto the whitelist through the new sub and I think the variety of the fits on this sub would increase too.

I'm not exactly sure how this could be perfectly done but I think that the mods would know what to do. Maybe only post the best fits of the 2nd sub if they reach a minimum amount of upvotes. Maybe these fits would only be posted on a certain day except if they reach an even higher amount of upvotes or are 'manually' selected by the mods because of high quality.

I'm aware that this would be kind of a mess at the beginning but I also truly think that a change in this direction could really benefit r/streetwear.

[DISCUSSION] Why is Hypebeast's community so toxic?

Posted: 10 Jan 2019 05:41 PM PST

I like to check out hypebeast's website fairly frequently since I think they do a decently good job of keeping up with what's happening in fashion and culture as a whole, despite the horribly corny name. But without fail, every single comment section on a post is filled with degrading and incessant bitching about the highlighted designer or artist. Could it just have an abnormally hateful demographic or am I not in on some kind of bad joke?

[Discussion] PSA: Do not order from Yeezysupply, also always order online with paypal rather than visa

Posted: 10 Jan 2019 10:29 AM PST

Background: Ordered a yeezy season 3 shearling jacket (480 USD) when they had a restock at the beginning of December. Received a woman's jump suit a week later. Emailed them immediately about a refund or to ship me the actual item, was told that they would speak to the shipping department. Never received anything back. Emailed several more times with no response. Still haven't got my money back. Now need to go jump through Visa's hoops (a lot harder than paypal for chargeback).

Conclusion: The previous complaints with yeezy supply had to do with long shipping times, but now Yeezysupply may ship you something completely different and not refund you or let you return. Just wanted to let everyone know so that you guys don't have to go through the same thing.

TLDR: Do not order from yeezy supply, their CS is terrible and you may get something completely different and no money back.

Edit: This is not a unique incident as I know someone that ordered a shearling and received a woman's tank top.

Also for those of you who were wondering why Visa is more difficult than paypal, it is because VISA requires you to get a letter of expertise to say the two things are different. They want you to walk into a brick and mortar store (completely unrelated to the matter) and ask an associate for this type of letter, which is difficult to get unless the associate is extremely kind and willing to take that kind of liability.

[DISCUSSION] Branding VS Quality

Posted: 10 Jan 2019 10:13 PM PST

Simply put: Do you prioritize branding or quality in regards to the clothes you purchase?

Recently, I've been seeing a lot of smaller, independent streetwear brands releasing some really nice, cut and sew garments. Despite the quality of these pieces, they are selling for a modest price. Then, we have brands like Anti Social Social Club, which are selling Gildan blanks with simple screen prints for exorbitant prices. People are buying these expensive, but poorly made garments, so that they can flex the associated brand. Personally, I prioritize quality. For example, I live in northern Canada, and if I see a garment that will keep me warm for a good price, I will cop without concerning myself with the associated brand. I prefer comfort and style over a piece that I can flex. However, sometimes larger brands do have good sales, at which point I will definitely show my support. So, I am wondering on which side do you lie, and what are your thoughts?

[DISCUSSION] Fucking Sneaker Bots!!!! (Pleasures)

Posted: 10 Jan 2019 10:56 AM PST

Been waiting for the pleasures crocs release and they were sold out by bots immediately. This is getting fucking ridiculous. 5 minutes after they've dropped and they're up on ebay for $250. As a fan this really pisses me off. You don't mind that your fans that actually support your business getting screwed over, and all of your sales are going to reselling schmucks. Poor brand management. Now I learned my lesson: Don't bother keeping up with drops, I ain't getting nothing anyway.

So they make loud women's Chelsea's boots someone posted/was wearing them them here in a WAYWT post. They're all extremely maximalist cheleasa and westernboots that look like pic related, and if I remember correctly they're only women's. But use the pic below as a point of reference I know those boots I shared are SLP the brand i'm Look for is not, they're a small boutique and I think they're name starts with "h" https://imgur.com/a/LphWWEv
