[Discussion] Hello r/streetwear, I have a very short survey for you people with amazing style. I hope you can help me out!

Posted: 18 Jan 2019 03:39 AM PST

For my graduation project, I'm creating an AI based fashion application. Using clothing from your own wardrobe, you can generate unlimited outfits to wear every day. I'm using weather and Google Calendar data to give users the most relevant outfits based on rain chance and appointments.

All of this is already working, but I still need to 'teach' the AI to know fashion basics, which seems impossible. I have created a survey with 15 stands on clothing combinations. It would be amazing if you could help me out by answering my survey! Thank you in advance :)

Posted: 17 Jan 2019 10:42 AM PST

I saw their latest runway and there are some interesting prints, fabrics and collabs (undercover, Birkenstock's, Moncler). Could Piccioli take the brand to the high streetwear scene or will it mean the downfall of the brand?

Looking to expand my wardrobe and add some subtle or heavy drip, list any recommendations you have for me. I like the minimalist look and find it appealing. My type of style is wearing a basic outfit but would have on a LV belt for that flex. I'm also looking for some nice zip up hoodies. Thanks for your recommendations!

[DISCUSSION] Where do buy your trousers?

I'm loving the fit of the Uniqlo EZY Ankle Pants but they really do not have the color that I like here in our country(the light grey/silver ones)

What are some other good quality trousers from different budgets? I'm a brokeboi so I only shop mostly Uniqlo but what are some other good brands of the same price range? Would also like to know which ones are nice from the higher tier brands

[DISCUSSION] [PSA] Disappointing experience with Visvim and RE:FRESH store in NOLA

Posted: 16 Jan 2019 04:51 PM PST

Sup fam - over the past couple months, I've had an extremely disappointing experience with a faulty Visvim 22L Cordura Backpack I purchased from RE:FRESH aka Regarding Fresh based in New Orleans, Louisiana, and just wanted to bring attention to the community.

First, a photo of the damage or manufacturing flaw on the bag in question.

Back in early November, I visited NOLA from NYC for my 26th birthday. I knew RE:FRESH was one of the favorite local streetwear boutiques in the city, so I decided to check it out. I especially wanted to go because I knew the store carried one of my grails - the Visvim Cordura Rucksack - which they had on sale from $595 to $357.

So my girlfriend and I were shootin' the shit with the guy working there at the time. Super nice dude, very helpful, fun to talk to, etc. He brought out the bag for me, it was even cooler in person (hadn't seen that blue colorway before), so I decided to grab it as a little birthday gift to myself. So we were on our way.

A few days go by, while I'm of course using my new backpack every day since buying it (but not overwhelming it with weight). I get back to town 3-4 days later, get to work, set my bag down, and notice one of the straps is unraveling, holding onto the base of the bag by literally one single thread, and the nylon is continuing to unravel up the strap.

I was shocked by how easily this thing started to fall apart, especially considering the Visvim brand and its focus on quality materials and such. Seemed like it was a manufacturing defect. Regardless, I looked online to see what I could find about repairs, and I saw that Visvim offers repairs on their products! Cool, right?

So I contact Visvim through the repairs portal, and I contacted the RE:FRESH store as well. No response from either for a couple days. Sent an additional email to both, and first received a response from Visvim that said being that I did not purchase the item directly from the Visvim site or store, I would need to go through RE:FRESH about shipping them my backpack, so RE:FRESH could then ship it to Visvim repairs, and then Visvim would send it back to RE:FRESH, and RE:FRESH would send it back to me...

I honestly thought Visvim would stand behind their product a little more than that. Who cares what shop I ordered it from? It's your product, your manufacturing flaw, why not just fix it if it's legit? Anyways, I was in contact with RE:FRESH via email after that, and after some back and forth, and some vague "we'll contact Visvim and look into it" stalls, I had radio silence for about a week. I followed up just checking in, confirming the process of mailing my bag to RE:FRESH so they could send it to Visvim and so on, and they responded saying yes that will eventually be the process, we will arrange shipment details and advise from there.

Fine, I'll take that. But then another 2 weeks go by without any updates. So I send another email just checking in, and I actually end up getting a phone call from the guy at the shop my girlfriend and I were chatting with and who sold us the bag! Awesome! He left a voicemail that said I could expect to see a shipping label in my email shortly and we can begin the process!

Well, a couple more days went by, no shipping label was sent. I tried calling a couple times, left a couple voicemails, no response. Pretty much just left it alone as we were approaching Christmas and New Years at that point, and expected to hear back after the new year.

Two weeks into January, the last I heard from the store was that voicemail from over a month ago. I've called two or three times, emailed again, nothing.

I ended up taking my bag to a bag repair shop in NYC today and they literally fixed it in about 30 minutes. $30. Done.

Moral of the story is, no matter how perfectly branded and marketed one company is, doesn't mean they really give a shit about their product or customers. I get that I'm not a high end customer that's spent thousands with the company, but I don't think that should matter. I absolutely loved Visvim leading up to this experience, and I haven't felt so let down by a company until now. RE:FRESH was an awesome store, and the guy I met there was a great dude... and honestly, I think it's probably Visvim that caused the hold up on their end, too. Regardless, it was pretty upsetting I was promised a shipping label and never heard from them again.

TLDR - I bought a Visvim bag at RE:FRESH that ended up having manufacturing flaws, and neither the store nor Visvim did anything to resolve the situation or repair my bag.

[Discussion] As someone who is looking to get into street wear, what are some brands I should check out?

Posted: 16 Jan 2019 04:24 PM PST

Gotta get that text quota done so I'm just gonna use some filler words and sentences. Currently I've been enjoying Stussy and Champion. I love the look of Acne Studios- that kind of minimal style just looks clean as fuck. I usually just wear jeans or dickies. Thanks or the help.

Edit: Spelling. Also I'd like to add I am on a budget.

[DISCUSSION] r/streetfashion

Posted: 16 Jan 2019 10:49 AM PST

What do you guys think about starting a new sub?

r/streetfashion - The mix of streetwear/high-fashion.

It shouldn't be about how expensive the fit is, but the influence and style of the fit.

It seems like the logical and almost inevitable next step. The biggest problem that I've noticed is that half of the user base wants to go back to the Supreme/Palace/Sneakers style of streetwear, and the other half are leaning towards the mix of High-fashion/Miniaml streetwear.

One thing we need to accept is that streetwear has been adopted into high-fashion, but there is still a distinction between the two. A lot of people have been referring to the mix as Streetfashion, which makes sense because that's exactly what is it. It should be recognized as such, which will allow it to be distinct from Streewtear.

What are your thoughts?

[Discussion] Fake Steep Tech?

Posted: 16 Jan 2019 07:19 PM PST

Sup all, I've been looking for Steep tech jackets, and I noticed some of the ones I see some say TNF and have the Scott shmidt name on the tag, and some don't say north face or his name at all but might have a tag that says true rock.

Was there Steep tech before TNF with a different brand and just didn't use the north face branding or are they bootleg? I honestly would prefer to not have the north face logo so long as the jacket is legit, but I don't want a cheap jacket either. I've been looking for info about it, and can't find much.
