What happened to t shirts?

What happened to t shirts? When I go to good will or use one of my dad's old tees, they fit sooo much better. I am talking about t shirts from the 80's and 90's. The neck it tighter/wider/thicker, the quality/thickness is better, the cut is better. I can wear a size large or x-large.

Modern tees I have to wear a size Medium or small (carhartt). They are loose/light weight, and the neck is too thin and loose.

Boxy / relaxed tees that are shorter in length?

I'm 5'6 and I love finding tees from vintage / thrift stores since they're usually boxier (and shorter). A lot of the tees I find today are around 28-30 inches which is just too long for me. I find 26-27 inches to be perfect. Anyone have any reccos for brands (including blanks) that fit the bill?

Beware of Hakai Culture “Clothes”. Ordered 2 items. Ordered rock lee shirt and curse seal shorts. Arrived and I Immediately threw them out in trash. Shirt was half plastic sticker? Unbelievable poor material that imo barely qualifies as clothing material. Better off wearing plastic bags.
