What is your favorite Virgil quote?

Posted: 30 Nov 2021 11:10 AM PST

If this isnt allowed, please remove. Working on a project in honor or Virgil Abloh.

Hey guys, as you all know we lost a beautiful soul in the fashion, music and creative industry. I've been doing all kinds of art professionally for a little over 6 years, and I'd be lying if I said that Virgil wasn't a big part of my work and inspired me in my own creations, as well as repping OW & a couple of his latest pieces from LV.

One of my ventures is creating soundwave posters for favorite musicians/bands of mine and sharing them with the world. See my profile to understand what I'm talking about.

With that being said, I'd like to put together the same idea, but with some of you guy's favorite Virgil quotes. I need your help! If you could link me (and time stamp) a video, podcast, sound clip, etc. with some of your favorite Virgil quotes I can make this happen.

Like I said, check out my profile to get a visual idea of what I'm talking about. I will be giving these away for free, so if you are interested in receiving one, please just comment "Interested" or anything along those lines! I'll reach out to you whenever I get done with it.

Thank you, I love you all and FUCK cancer.

[META] We need your feedback: The WDYWT Megathread Trial is Over (It Sucked, We Know) and "Art" Post Rules Updates

WDYWT Megathread Trial is Over

10 weeks ago, we asked what you wanted to see out of this subreddit. One suggestion that had traction both in the feedback thread and from regulars was to move back to something like the whitelist. The idea behind this is simple: the front page might get crowded with poor quality fits and this requires users to post and engage in megathreads before they're allowed to post standalone WDYWT fits to the front page. It's been controversial before, but we figured we'd give it another go, first by seeing if people would even post in a WDYWT megathread.

They didn't, it was a total failure. We are a little surprised, given how successful the structure has been for other fashion subreddits, but clearly it won't work here. This doesn't mean we aren't concerned for the implications for the sub of why it didn't work. Here's a comment chain on why it might be bad that people aren't discussing anything, a problem we were hoping to help solve with this trial.

Posters can now post on the front page again, but are reminded to follow the the same rules on WDYWT that were in place before the week-long trial. This means you must include a text breakdown of your outfit, your pics must meet certain minimum photography standards, and they must be pictures of you (not someone else).

We will continue to have the Simple Questions/General Discussion Megathread and Self-Promo Megathread.

"Art" posts are not for advertising

6 weeks ago, we announced there were (and would be more) rules changes, today we are announcing more. Go ahead and refresh yourself on the complete rules here, but the key change is highlighting that "Art" posts cannot be for items for sale.

We have been removing dozens and dozens of posts a day with this flair that are just direct links to sales pages or redirects to Instagrams that are for selling goods. This is not what the Art tag is for. The Art tag is for you to show off something cool you made, wrote, drew, etc. If you want to advertise/self-promote, you can use the dedicated self-promo megathread. Flagrant or repeated violations will result in bans.

We are also asking posters who use this flair to give a short writeup. It doesn't need to be a book report, just say a few words about what it is, what inspired you, what your process was, stuff like that. People are interested in your work, don't leave them hanging by posting and ghosting.

Anyways, have at it in the comments. Remember rule 1, don't be an asshole. We're mods, we're people, and we're here because we give a shit about this sub, and we want it to be an awesome place, but we can't do it without your help.

I have a question about washing/drying expensive pieces such as bape , supreme .. etc ??

Posted: 27 Nov 2021 03:54 PM PST

flip inside out and I usually put them on the "handwash setting" in my washer using cold water when washing , I usually proceed to hang dry my pieces after , but sometimes I will put it in the dryer on the delicate setting which has low tumble and not very much heat for about 10-15 minutes until it becomes damp and then I put them up to hang dry,

is putting my pieces in the dryer before I hang dry them affecting them in anyway? For example should I worry about graphic cracks when I put my grails in the dryer on delicate low tumble dry for 15 mins? I just do this so when I hang dry them there not soaking wet. Let me know if I'm doing this right!?? 😂 thanks in advance

Weekly Self-Promo Megathread - Week of 27 November 2021

Posted: 27 Nov 2021 08:00 AM PST

Welcome to the self-promo thread! Since we have put a pause on approving standalone advertising threads, all marketing efforts outside of this dedicated self-promo megathread are prohibited and will be removed.

This megathread is where you can tell people about your brand and content, WITH EXCEPTIONS:

  • No adult content. That means OnlyFans, etc. This is a thread for fashion and streetwear related content.
  • No buy/sell/trade listings. Reddit is a terrible place to do BST and we are not here to deal with the fallout of this kind of market. Go to Facebook Metaverse(?) Marketplace, Grailed, eBay, your local thrift shop, whatever. Just don't do it here.
  • Use established platforms like YouTube and Vimeo only (or link to a Reddit video you've uploaded somewhere else) for video content like vlogs and unboxings. No weird knockoff sites.
  • No spam.

Good luck, have fun, and we will adjust these rules as necessary.

Does anyone have some summer outfit recommendations for a guy

Posted: 26 Nov 2021 11:56 PM PST

So I only recently got into wanting to improve my wardrobe, so it's looking pretty boring, rn I'm liking sweaters and long pants with my jordans, but the probslem is I live in Australian and it's summer now, and summer in Australia Is like upwards of 35 degrees into the 40s (>95 Fahrenheit) so I don't think I can survive in long pants and crewnecks much anymore. Does anyone have any outfits recommendations or examples that will still be stylish but not too hot? (Btw I'm getting white air forces soon so idk that helps with anything)

Undergrad in Italy

Posted: 27 Nov 2021 11:26 AM PST

Hi, I've just finished my A-Levels in the UK (A*AAC) and am considering studying a fashion course in Italy. I don't have the funds for a private university + living costs in a city like Milan without a scholarship. I have looked for Fashion courses (that's including Design, Business and Stylist) in English, but couldn't find any that are not super expensive. If any of you are studying fashion Italy, have experience or any useful info, I'd be very thankful for your responses.

I've been into fashion for a long time, but have any of you been getting bored of it recently. Everyone is into "fashion" now, and I feel like no one is being individualistic anymore, but all just copied and pasted. Am I being a hater?

WDYWT Mainline Megathread - 26 November 2021

Posted: 26 Nov 2021 10:00 AM PST

We are currently undergoing an indefinite test, in which all WDYWT posts should be made as comments in one of two recurring WDYWT threads - Mainline . You are in the Main thread, though anyone is welcome to post here. The Mainline threads post on Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays.

In this thread, constructive feedback is allowed, but not expected. Your A-game is expected. Vote counts will not be hidden and post order is set to Best by default.

Remember to follow the rules or your comments will be reported by others and inevitably deleted.

Posting in this thread is best done using an image uploader like the Reddit embedded one (you can post an image to your own profile and then link the image source) or using Imgur.

Viewing this thread is best done on desktop with an extension that lets you open images and albums in-line like RES or on-page like Hover Zoom. Mobile Reddit apps (like the Reddit official app,) should also work fine.
