We Are Looking For New Discord Staff - Apply Within!

Posted: 27 Jul 2017 08:17 AM PDT

There's been a continuous stream of people asking for an official /r/streetwear discord to be made. We've spent the past week getting the server ready. We are expecting to launch on July 31st. More details/specifics on that then.

Right now we're looking to add a couple staff members to the discord ahead of launch.

Please note that if you ARE selected, you will be on a probationary term initially, and will not be a full staff member yet.

Questions are;

1. How much time do you spend on /r/streetwear? How much time on discord? 2. What would you consider a bannable offence? 3. What's the most important rule to implement on a discord server? Why? 4. Do you have any custom command experience? If so, to what level? 5. What would make you a good staff member? 6. What timezone do you live in?

This thread will be locked after ~40 hours and unstickied. This will signal the end of the acceptance of applications. Please do not message any applications to the moderators, unless you have a good reason to do so.

Thank you all for reading and applying!

Isn't it insane that Nike hasn't dropped Vlone yet?

Posted: 27 Jul 2017 08:39 AM PDT

It's been almost two weeks since that drama went down. And it looks like everyone is just pretending it didn't happen. Rocky still hangs with him, Ferg didn't want to comment on the issue, no one else has denounced him.

To my knowledge he still has the nike deal, what the hell. Is this dude seriously about to get away with this?

Bullied For How You Dress

Posted: 27 Jul 2017 09:56 AM PDT

Compared to the past, street wear has become a bit more flamboyant. However, keeping a progressive mindset, what once was considered feminine has now been morphed to fit modern fashion trends. I for one am not afraid to try on different colors, shoes, pants. Of course there's going to be some push back from the public. Recently my co worker who is 65 years of age takes it upon himself to comment on what I wear. "Man, go on with them Halle Berry Cat Woman jeans" - "Why you wearing your sisters socks, man?" - "I fucks with that pink shirt. That would be something I would say if I actually fucked with it. Take it off." Sometimes it's funny, other times I'm just not in the mood to hear it.

Anyone else have an experience like this? How do you deal with it?

What are your favorite Fall jackets?

With Fall somewhat approaching I've been looking for a thinner jacket, preferably a windbreaker. What are some of your recommendations for lighter jackets/Fall jackets?

Outfit

Oops, forgot to put [WDYWT] in the title and it got deleted so I'm reposting

Tried to improve one of my previous fits, not sure if I went too crazy on the dadcore or not lol. People suggested I change to light wash jeans, and I thought the silhouette would look better with the Docs so I swapped those out too.

  • Banana Republic shirt
  • vintage t-shirt
  • American Apparel jeans
  • Uniqlo socks
  • Dr. Martens 1461

Thanks for looking!

Chuck 2's or CDG converse '70s?

Posted: 27 Jul 2017 07:51 PM PDT

Im lookin for a new pair of converse, but I'm torn between the two. The meme shoes are a bit more interesting, but the chuck 2's are cleaner and probably more comfortable. I know the meme shoes are twice the cost, but price isn't an issue. Any opinion is appreciated.

Suggestions for good strapbacks?

Posted: 27 Jul 2017 10:59 PM PDT

I have the Supreme S strapback they dropped a minute ago. Looking for other cool, minimal strapbacks in that vein. The Supreme one specifically has a nice fit that isn't too dad hat-y. Let me know if you guys know of anything. Was looking at the Decades but I'm weighing my options.

Streetwear/designer in LA?

Posted: 27 Jul 2017 09:22 PM PDT

Going on vacation to LA next week, I pretty much have streetwear stores covered (Round Two, Union, etc.), and I plan to hit up Varsity, but I'm trying to find a shop with vintage designer and shit, similar to Tokio 7 in NYC. Much thanks!

Why do you thrift?

Posted: 26 Jul 2017 11:04 AM PDT

Waddup r/streetwear! I'm asking this question because I'm curious. It seems like such a talked about thing but I feel like no one REALLY talks about it. I just want to propose the question: why do you thrift.

Example: I thrift because not only is it a cool and fun experience, but it allows you to have a very cheap and ranging wardrobe without putting much emphasis on branding. Basics can be found anywhere and sometimes the simplest of shirts can become your favorites. It is a very personal experience for me and I feel better connected to my clothes. It also puts an emphasis on character and identity. Sure you can buy into Tommy and old polo stuff, but nothing screams personality more than putting a well but together outfit without much branding or "hyped" thrifted brands. Basically what I'm saying is fuck a brand, be your own brand.

So why do you guys thrift? There's nothing wrong with liking Tommy or Polo stuff fyi, there's really nothing wrong with liking any brand. I think this world of streetwear is too blinded by the fact that wearing a brand and buying into a lifestyle makes someone cooler than another. Everyone is a person and should be allowed to do whatever they want, regardless of what trends Rocky or Kanye creating. Everyone is subjected to their own opinion on anything, and if you think something is cool then by all means rock that shit till you can't anymore.

I feel like this has almost turned into a full blown rant. Anyways I just wanna know why everyone thrifts and if there is someone else that experiences this same personal connection that I get when I thrift.

Welcome to the Sale Announcement Thread!

Here is where the community comes together and leaves links to great steals and sales floating around stores, online or in real life. As fair warning, we warn that you are dealing with strangers over the internet at your own risk, the moderation team nor reddit are liable for any shady dealings.

Be smart, find ways to verify that users are who they say they are and have what they say they have.

Fear Of God Fourth Collection Indigo

Posted: 26 Jul 2017 03:39 PM PDT

Hey everyone, I've been hearing a lot about Fear of God'd Fourth Collection Indigo Denim and I know there's like two or three batches. First being "OG", and second being "Intern" and so on. I was wondering if any of you know how to tell the difference between the batches assuming people in this Reddit have fear of God denim. Thanks. :)
