[REVIEW] Gucci Cardholder with Bee Print

Posted: 04 Mar 2018 06:56 AM PST

Pics: https://imgur.com/a/wsi2k

INITIAL IMPRESSIONS

I bought this cardholder instore last week after looking for alternatives to a big wallet. For anyone looking to purchase similiar products I recommend going to the store. Service is amazing and the experience is a lot better than ordering online. The cardholder itself is from the new women's collection but pretty unisex anyway. It cost 150 Euros and comes with two slots on each side for cards and a middle section for cash or more cards. It is made in Italy out of mainly leather with the outside being a canvas with printed golden bees.

QUALITY

Very high quality in my opinion. Comes wrapped in a little cloth bag inside a small box with an authentication slip. All the stitches are flawless and there are no loose threads anywhere. The leather is soft and the canvas gives the cardholder a bit more structure than an all leather one would have. Bee print has not shown signs of fading so far.

PRACTICALITY

The cardholder fits four cards and cash in the middle section making it very practical for my use. Even full it has a very slim profile making it an easy fit inside pockets. After a break-in period cards can easily be taken in and out.

OVERALL

It might not be worth it to many people but that's usually the case with these things. Personally I went with a Gucci cardholder because I wanted something more special than plain leather. The bee print is very shiny in person and definitely stands out. Im happy with my purchase.

[Discussion] Uniqlo Collab, What To Expect?

Posted: 04 Mar 2018 11:59 PM PST

Hey guys I saw the upcoming Uniqlo collab with Shonen Jump for the 50th aniversary, I was wondering if anyone has experienced any of these collabs before living in the US. Here is the article. It says they will be released on April 16th, will this apply to the US as well? Also, is there some sort of limited stock when it comes to these collabs and they will be gone when it's done with? I also wanted to know how the prices will be in America, as they are around 990 yen in Japan.

I wanted to know this information since I am interested in purchasing some of these pieces when they drop, but not sure how the whole process works! Thanks to whoever has any knowledge on this.

[REVIEW] Uniqlo Ultra Light Down, Uniqlo U Hoodie, Trousers, T-Shirts

Posted: 04 Mar 2018 10:59 AM PST

Pics: https://imgur.com/a/0s1s7

Uniqlo Ultra Light Down Jacket:

Very nice quality for the price range, feels incredibly light and pretty soft. Living in Southern California, the jacket made me feel hot as soon as I put it on and did great walking around during the colder hours. For reference, a t-shirt + this did fine during the 30-50 degree Fahrenheit range, might need another layer or a thicker sweatshirt for lower temperatures. Definitely a more casual warm jacket than something you'd wear in a snowstorm.

Uniqlo U Hoodie:

VERY heavy. Very high quality. For under 50 dollars, I'm not sure if you can really buy a heavier hoodie outside of deep discounted items. Had to go a size up, (hence the baggy fit) but I'd recommend TTS or one size up for a very boxy fit. Band doesn't ride up during casual wear, and pockets are made in a way that doesn't make a huge kangaroo pouch over your stomach like most do. The hoodie does look pretty baggy near the stomach in my pics, again because hands in pockets + oversized hoodie will make it look like you got a bit of fupa. Overall, and amazing heavy, warm hoodie for the price range.

Uniqlo U T-Shirt:

Pretty heavy build, not as boxy as it appears in some of the promotional pics. Definitely see an oversized/boxy aesthetic here, though. Very nice quality for the 15 dollars, although the fit can be a bit wonky for some.

Uniqlo U Wide Fit Tapered Trousers:

Found these as the last pair in the store, in my size, in black, as a return. 40 dollar sold out trousers for 10, thanks, South Coast Plaza Uniqlo! Pretty comfortable, cotton-y, (almost nylon-like?) material. VERY long and VERY baggy. Had to roll up a good 4 inches of pant for the pictures included. The tapered-ness makes a nice ballon-pant look rolled up, these pants are good for the vintage/techwear-y aesthetic. Overall a good choice if you're looking for wide/baggy/balloon-like pants, especially if you can find them in return.

Overall, this Uniqlo U season and the Ultra Light Down jacket are great choices for inexpensive but high-quality clothing for a progressive, vintage/baggy/techwear? vibe.

[INSPO] Help an amateur

Posted: 05 Mar 2018 01:05 AM PST

I really like streetwear and I'd love to majorly upgrade my wardrobe but I've got no idea where to start, I'm basically a blank canvas. I'm especially interested in techwear, but the famous brands aren't very affordable to me as I am a student without much money. I'm just looking for some tips on affordable brands and on inspo.

Up until now I've been wearing pretty casual stuff such as Vans, Doc Martens, Carhartt, Pull&Bear and Dickie's.

Also, sorry if this type of post has been made before, please feel free to link me to it.

[DISCUSSION] Streetwear slang?

Posted: 04 Mar 2018 03:27 PM PST

Streetwear Slang (self.streetwear)

submitted a minute ago by pursuitofsadness

A little bit of background:

I am a Temple university computer science student looking into analysis of slang use by certain subcultures for a project.

Being a lover of streetwear and fashion, this subreddit came to mind immediately. So I thought I would come and ask you guys what slang and words you associate with the streetwear culture.

I figure a presentation on streetwear with a few fit pics and all would be WAYYYYY more interesting than whatever fuck shit the other students will be doing (golf/football, and like curling or some stupid shit)

tl;dr- I'm doing a language project on slang. I want some slang you use.

So, what words do you guys associate with and use when communicating about streetwear?

[Discussion] Pacsun no longer sells stacked skinny black jeans that aren't distressed

Posted: 04 Mar 2018 04:42 PM PST

I really can't believe FoG has fucked it up so bad.

seriously, go on their site, stacked skinny black jeans only come with moto details, distressed or zipper shits on em. Anyone got suggestions for a brand at a similar pricepoint? I had plain black stacked skinnies for two years but the crotch blew out. the regular skinny fit have ankles too wide for the look I want (at my size anyway-34). I want something to stack on my shoe the same way. I haven't checked out BDG yet but I know HM jeans are ass quality and fit really baggy.

[DISCUSSION] Do NOT support clothing brand FUNERALSERVCEUSA

Posted: 03 Mar 2018 08:07 AM PST

I am sure some of you have caught wind of the clothing brand FUNERAL SERVCE worn frequently by an assortment of South Florida rappers/influencers. The creator of the brand is a scammer who refuses to pay me back after selling me a fake pair AJ1 x Off White.

I have known the creator (Cole) for awhile, and around 5 months ago I approached him to buy a pair since I saw him with the shoes a month before release. Cole claimed he had a connect for the shoes, and was hooking his friends/clients up. He sold multiple pairs to his friends, and even the rapper Smokepurpp. After purchasing the shoes for $900 from him, I immediately could tell they were fake. I contacted some of the other people that received pairs from him, and I confirmed their pairs were fake as well. After months of pleading with Cole, and trying to get my money back he is refusing to respond to me. He is a scammer, and whether he did this intentionally or not it doesn't change the fact that he was involved with the circulation of fake shoes. For those wondering, I paid him through f&f on PayPal (therefore I don't think I can get my money back). I also returned the shoes to him but have multiple pictures proving they are fake.

PROOF: https://imgur.com/a/VsJyo (sorry convo pics are out of order)

PLEASE: comment on his instagram that he is a scammer and is selling fake off whites (insta: FUNERALSERVCEUSA)

TL;DR owner/creator of FuneralServce sold fake Air Jordan 1 x Off White to multiple people (even a semi-famous rapper) and refuses to pay the money back to anyone. Do not support his brand.

UPDATE: Just wanted to say that I really appreciate the people calling him out on his Instagram. I can't stand the thought of him scamming other people, so this is really gratifying. Paypal is currently investigating the case, so I'll keep you guys posted.

[Advert] Released my brand's first collection today: Life Anew - Exploring the ethos of re-use

Posted: 03 Mar 2018 02:19 PM PST

Preview of the whole collection for the lazy

After a couple of months of work I'm happy to announce my brand's first collection is now live!

Exploring an ethos of re-use, the collection consists of twelve hand-sewn reconstructed shirts, made from carefully selected vintage materials. Each one is unique in composition and cut.

The collection released earlier today over on my website, amazingly I'm already down to the last few in stock.

Big thanks for all the support for far on my WIP shots and over on Instagram, I've had loads of Reddit members sliding into the DMs with great feedback.

I've got tonnes of ideas to expand this in the future so watch this space. x

[Discussion] Streetwear for when you want a more mature look?

Posted: 03 Mar 2018 07:07 AM PST

I'm 28, I love streetwear and have been into since I was 21. I don't think I can get away with a lot of the flashier clothes at this age, and really I just want to mature my style anyway. I mean a fee pieces here and there could still be patterned, graphic tees, wild, for casual wear. But the job I'm at now lets us wear casual clothing as long as we don't get too crazy.

Are there any specific brands that are like this?Basics, good quality, but still stylish? Any certain items that are good for a work place, a more mature setting, but still good for casual wear also?

One thing I'm know I'm going for that I never had is a pair of black boots that are versatile.

Is off white doing too much? Share your thoughts

Posted: 03 Mar 2018 05:54 PM PST

Now Virgil is killing fashion right now (in my opinion and no im not a hypebeast) he does a good job of mixing streetwear with high fashion and dropping products for everyone. But after recently seeing a drink by off white i start to wonder, is off white going to far and is all of these collabs and items they have, making it played out?. For example: the ikea collab, a bunch of sneakers with nike, energy drink, more affordable side brand, and merch for tours and concerts. Is this too much? I feel seeing this stuff everywhere i turn is kinda making off white boring to me. What's your thoughts on this?

[DISCUSSION] What are your favorite (relatively) inexpensive brands that deserve more attention?

Posted: 02 Mar 2018 02:50 PM PST

I've been absolutely pouring through a whole lot of new streetwear brands recently, and have really enjoyed a lot of what I have found. I realized that there are so many brands that have an immense amount of character, style and often quality for how much you're paying. A lot of the stuff I've seen on the smaller end of brand sizes has this interesting taste of individuality and personal touch, as well as a unique type of passion that seems to only come out of working on a project yourself while you dream of growing into a big company. Some of my favorite finds are Get Some Sleep, Resurgence, Cease and Desist, Bad Neighbors and Nick Holiday's brand. I'm loving the unique flavor of these more independent projects, with some having such unique concepts like the ones explored by brands like The MSTRPLAN, ROKIT and thisisneverthat. What are some of your favorites/why should people care? I'm broke, so please lean towards the inexpensive, however i'm interested in anything you've got.

What happened to Alife? [DISCUSSION]

Posted: 03 Mar 2018 01:57 AM PST

Alife use to be one of my favorite brands back in the day. In fact i probably was more invested into it than supreme back in 2013/2014. Prices were awesome and their NYC store was my favorite store i have visited at the time in regards to streetwear. However now every time i come back and check their shop their prices are outrageous for what they're putting out, and they seem to just be trying to follow Supreme's footsteps in a shittier fashion. I just went to their site and they have an Alife CINDER BLOCK for sale like cmon bruh. Haven't kept my eye on them in a while but do people still fuck with them? are they irrelevant now? it's upsetting because i really use to love them and now they just seem to be putting in minimal effort with high prices

[Discussion] 2018 Streetwear/Sneaker Trend Preditions?

Posted: 02 Mar 2018 09:12 PM PST

Let us know your 2018 streetwear/sneaker predictions trends? Is it techwear? Is the dad shoe trend going to die out? Let us know your thoughts? Let's get ahead of the game, I'm just curious of what you think will go trending even though it's almost imposssible to tell. Like doubt people would've guessed the dad sneaker but look how that ended up! The Fear of God look seems to have died down a bit, I don't know if this has something with Bieber not being so much in the headlines now days although I feel Zipper and heavily dissressed denim has lost its flair. Personally I think the track denim is really in at the moment, I've just bought some recently and I think the colour block is super nice with heaps of different fits Also how y'all have found 2018 so far? What trends are you giving a go?

[DISCUSSION] Does VLONE rip designs from other designers?

Posted: 03 Mar 2018 02:31 AM PST

I was Looking at some VLONE on grailed and I couldn't help but notice the similarity between their LOVE/LONE design and a design on it that read LOSER/LOVER

VLONE

IT

possible rip? What do you guys think? Looks a little too similar to chalk it up to coincidence, It looks like this isn't the first time VLONE has been suspected of stealing designs from other Designers, Like when In 2006, Takahiro Miyashita's previous label Number (N)ine designed a t-shirt with a V on the back that has several similarities with the VLONE logo that A$AP Bari "created". Really don't know how to feel about this because I love VLONE as brand but it just seems a little scummy if they can't make up any of their own designs for anything.

VLONE

(N)ine

i should credit the dude i took the last paragraph from so here

should add in I only took the other dudes paragraph because the minimum word requirement is 150 and I don't think I can expand on the same idea a bunch.

[Discussion] Can someone explain the hype around Off White?

Posted: 02 Mar 2018 10:06 AM PST

So I did some research and looked up Virgil and how he made his own clothing company which went from Pyrex to Off white. But, I can't really identify anything that would justify the prices on his items. Like the nike x off white collab is the main topic seemingly over at r/sneakers but, from what I've seen, they just look like they've been given paragraphs on the side and new shoestrings. Now, that's of course me, everyone is entitled to their own opinions and able to spend their money on whatever they'd like to. I like designer clothes and sneakers, etc. But, I just wanted to try and understand better.
