[DISCUSSION] on online sites for men's noragi jackets.

Posted: 11 Mar 2018 11:50 AM PDT

Hey fam,

I compiled a list of online sites that have men's noragi jackets: Source. What sites would you recommend adding to the list? All feedback is welcome.

Excerpt: "Since time immemorial, cardigans have always been part of a stylish man's wardrobe. It performs two functions: one, keep you warm and two, elevate whatever you're wearing underneath to something more refined and fashionable. Despite the cardigans' dominance of the wardrobe, a new contender has risen, the noragi jacket. But what exactly is a noragi jacket? Inspired by traditional Japanese working class kimono-wear, the noragi jacket is being hailed as the modern cardigan. An alternative to the cardigan with more versatility due to its layering ability and eye-catching designs."

[ADVERT] Grand Opening for DHVR: Exchange, A New/Vintage Online Clothing Store

Posted: 12 Mar 2018 02:03 AM PDT

The goal is to provide good, clean, and diverse vintage looks for a decent price, as well as plugging new limited-run items for the low.

Given the nature of said limited-run releases, the stock is limited to what we can get our hands on, so be sure to check back regularly for those and more vintage/pre-owned items as well.

It is DHVR: Exchange

And for you guys, here is a discount code just for the r/streetwear community:

RSTREETWEARGANG - 20% OFF ANY 2 VINTAGE/PRE-OWNED ITEMS

~

I'm happy to get the opportunity to post here in a community that has helped me learn to appreciate the many different styles of clothing people enjoy, regardless of my personal taste. So, I thank you.

Given that perspective, and seeing a viable opportunity to do something I'm passionate about, I opened up a clothing store March 9th online focusing on a few facets of streetwear.

[DISCUSSION] Junya Watanabe x Carhartt WIP Chore Coat

Posted: 11 Mar 2018 10:21 AM PDT

Junya Watanabe x Carhartt WIP Chore Coat

Designer Junya Watanabe has collaborated with Carhartt WIP to produce his own version of the classic chore coat.

While keeping a similar colorway as the classic tan duck canvas Carhartt chore coat, Watanabe has added his own personal flair. This comes in the form of noticeable geometric patterns and more pockets which add to the utility of the garment.

Priced at over $1,000 USD the garment may be out of reach for a portion of interested buyers.

Junya Watanabe is a familiar name to those interested in fashion. He perfected his craft at Commes Des Garcons, where he went on to execute successful collaborations with the likes of Converse, Levis, and other big name and well known fashion brands.

Carhartt WIP is a European brand with roots in the USA mainline brand Carhartt. Carhartt mainline is known for functional and quality workwear, often used for the intended purpose of manual labor. In the USA, to the casual observer, Carhartt is more utilitarian and functional versus fashion oriented.

In Europe, Carhartt WIP is more fashion oriented, but maintaining a similar level of quality found in mainline Carhartt. It's a popular streetwear brand and seen as such outside the USA. The cuts tend to be slimmer or looser, along with having more colorways than mainline Carhartt.

[DISCUSSION] Rapid Style Changes

Posted: 10 Mar 2018 03:36 PM PST

I'm so tired of this, almost every day my style changes, why's that ? One day I like really slim silhouettes, stuff like Danny from PAQ would rock and the next day I'm all about wide trousers, Gosha esque oversized tops and very street-stuff. I constantly feel like I need to be able to stick to one kind of aesthetic in order to finally build a consistent wardrobe, which I have not been able to do all my life (19 btw). Is anyone else struggling with this ? It really drags me down and constantly makes me feel like what I currently have on looks like shit, especially when I see other fashionable people.

[DISCUSSION] Vans Old Skool VS Air Force 1 low

Posted: 10 Mar 2018 09:42 PM PST

I don't know if I should buy black Vans Old Skools or the all-black Air Force 1 lows. The Vans are cheaper, so it wouldn't matter too much if I ruined them, but I really like the AF1 silhouette, as the thicker sole and shape of the upper have grown on me (black AF1 because I get my shoes dirty way too often). I have been previously rocking the Vans and like them quite a bit as well, but I'm not sure if the 'flatter' shoe matches my style. I like to color block using black and white clothes, with an occasional orange, yellow, or red. If I can, I wear black, grey, and earth toned sweat pants or track pants. I normally go with a hoodie, either to match the bottom or to add some flare to my outfit. I also like to layer with thin jackets and flannels. If I buy the AF1s, I won't be able to wear my Adidas pants consistently (some of my favorite pieces), as the two brands will clash. I have seen a lot of people wearing the Vans with Adidas pants, as they are not brands that are very competitive with each other. Based on my style, which should I get?

[DISCUSSION] Style Progression

Posted: 09 Mar 2018 04:46 PM PST

I have have fully changed my style and opinion on clothes in the past year and a bit. I play sports and would only wear sweatpants as it was useful. While I still have not refined my style at all and still trying to find it I think that I have definitely taken a step in the right direction.

February 2nd-March 21st, 2017

https://imgur.com/a/B2pTo This was the day everything started to interest me. I used to only wear sweatpants and flat caps (I refused to wear anything else) and I recently got myself an OVO hat. This was also when I started to get into photography and a bit of drawing.

April 14th, 2017

https://imgur.com/a/wmL5s This was a big leap for me. I bought my first pair of pants that weren't sweatpants and some shoes that weren't runners(Puma Suedes). At this pint I started to become a slight mallcore/Hypebeast. I started to watch a bunch of Hypebeasts/sneaker heads. I also bought a supreme hat, that I now regret a lot. I also took a slight interest in skating and the style. Another thing was that I started to care about how I looked.

May 6th, 2017

https://imgur.com/a/rQZ2b After almost my entire life of refusing to wear jeans because of the comfort I decided to but some, granted they were stretchy and from H&M but I still consider it a milestone. I also bought my first and still only pair of Jordan's. My interest for fashion and photography has picked up and my close friends around me have also taken an interest. Still a Hypebeast at this point.

June 14th, 2017

https://imgur.com/a/OF5WB I started to care less about what other people thought of me, but I still was really self conscious. I bought shorts that were above the knee. Before this I used to be really self conscious about my legs and would only buy basketball shorts that were below the knee. It was also summer and I had a bunch of time to hangout with friends which led to takin more pictures and more interest in skating. I didn't know what went well with each other.

July 3rd-October 21st, 2017

https://imgur.com/a/MhkRC I took a bit more interest in skate culture and the style(but still not skating). I also began a little bit of thrifting and spending a bit more on other pieces other than shoes and hats. I began grasping a tiny bit on understanding colour but I still sucked at it. I experimented a bit in more dressy fits. I also discovered reddit at this point and that helped point me in the right direction.

December 24th to March 9th, 2018

https://imgur.com/a/kcDsJ I slowly started to be interested in logos and more interested in the pieces themselves. I bought my first pair of boots and started going to the thrift store a lot more. I started to understand colours a lot more but Im still getting the hang of it. I'm way more confident in what I do and how I dress and that has seemed to help a lot with experimenting with different things. Oh and Ive actually started to skate.

In conclusion I'm happy with how I've progressed my style. I know it ain't whitelist worthy but from what I started out with I'm happy.

Question for you: How has your style progressed in he last year / how has your style progressed since you've got into streetwear/fashion?

[DISCUSSION] Pick One Brand To Wear For Each Of The Following Categories: Tees, Outwear, Pants, Shoes.

Posted: 09 Mar 2018 09:42 PM PST

We all have our go to t shirt, pants, and shoes for whenever we cant figure out what to wear, but what if you were restricted to wearing only one brand for Tees, one for Outwear, another for Pants, and another for Shoes? I dont currently wear anything "high quality" but would like to get the perspective of those who have really nice quality pieces, to even those that are like me and are typically wearing Vans Sk8 Hi's, random graphic tee and basic jeans lol.

Feel free to be more specific as well. My list is probably going to be hella basic because again i dont really have experience with pieces i'd like to own (Raf/Rick/Y3/Heron etc) and ill only be putting pieces i have experience with, feel free to post what you'd like to be able to wear too tho.

  • Tops: KNYEW Perfecto Tees Im a tall dude, i usually have issues finding tees that fit me well. Im not the biggest fan of the super elongated tees, but i dont like tees that sit at my waist either, i typically like them to fit under my crotch area lol but i found out that these are 1 inch longer than your standard tee and its enough for me to get my size, it fit me well and not boxy.

  • Outwear: For jackets/outwear i've had really good luck with Asos most of the time, i have their 2 day shipping thing, and i love that they put the model's weight/height/size wearing because it just makes it much easier for me to choose my size which makes me confident in my purchase.

  • Pants: Honestly Uniqlo, they have such a diverse and good selection of bottoms for me it is my go to. I purchased some cropped chinos that use this fabric thats perfect for summer, and i love them. Their jeans are great, considering the price.

  • Shoes: Honestly Sk8 Hi's, like i said my fits are pretty basic, but i love Sk8 hi's, i think the fact you can customize them with different color variations, their always collabing, and theirs spots that will always customize them for you make them very versatile.
