[DISCUSSION] Want some great track pants, need advice Posted: 24 Jul 2018 12:31 AM PDT Hi there, yesterday I was looking for some track pants and I stumbed upon these from ONLY NY: https://onlyny.com/collections/summer-2018/products/nylon-track-pants-sage Thing is that ONLY NY doesn't ship overseas (I'm from Madrid, Spain). Do you guys know some track pants in that price range and style ? ( nylon, not to baggy and flashy, with elastic cuffs at hem..) thanks! [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Jul 2018 11:24 AM PDT Lately i've been interested in greek sculpture and similar, and from there i've found something I'd like to buy soon, which is a men's skirt, ankle length, black colour and with quite some draping. now I'm wondering what the streetwear community over here thinks of it, do you like it or do you hate it. I want to hear whatever thoughts you have surrounding the subject of skirts and maybe other pieces which are 'only for a certain gender' I'm also open for recommendations, since there aren't many skirts especially made for men(as far as i know), except for kilts ofcourse! [DISCUSSION] What Makes Us Buy Streetwear? Posted: 23 Jul 2018 12:37 PM PDT What makes us buy streetwear? Under WDYWTs, I often see brands I've never heard of before mentioned. After googleing these brands, I see a wealth of info about them and I'm curious as to how I've never heard of them before. On top of this, some of these brands have very little or no graphic design, simply colored fabrics. This begs the question of why people would prefer the brand over something you would find in Old Navy. There is the sort of pride in having a rare piece no one else knows about, but the thing is no one knows about it so it's not much different than Old Navy, at least to the naked eye. And the obvious answer of "influencers wear it" i.e asap rocky and kanye making VLONE and Off White popular or even the people on here wearing a brand in their wdywt. And for a while I thought that was the answer too. But then I see celebrities all over instagram shouting out and wearing brands with less than 100 followers I know it's not the answer. So I ask again, what makes us buy streetwear? What is it about brands that makes them seem unique or interesting enough to spend money on? Is it a combination of the factors I named? or is it something else?? Leave comments below, I'm stumped. . . . . Edit: I have built somewhat of little theory myself, what i'm hearing is a purchase follows these steps: Importance: Recognizing the brand is important(celeb wearing it, a documentary about it) Investigation: Looking into the brand more and finding stuff you like Connection: Feeling an emotional connection and relating to the brand and purchasing And the last step is spreading the brand to other people [link] [comments]
[NEWS] Grailed Heatwave Week 5: "World Gone Mad: BAPE" Posted: 23 Jul 2018 07:20 AM PDT We're celebrating our community this summer with Monday giveaways through Instagram and Thursday drops featuring amazing items from our archive. For our fifth giveaway, in partnership with "Highsnobiety", we're helping you outfit your space with some bold BAPE-branded home goods. Any streetwear brand can cook up a few T-shirts, hats and hoodies with their respective logos and graphics. It takes a true icon to serve up something that can outfit—not just your closet—but your entire living space. Like fellow streetwear titans Supreme and Stüssy, NIGO's BAPE has always found success for creating offbeat and irreverent items that incorporate its proprietary graphics, especially those including its many camouflages and Ape Head icon. Some of the most exclusive and impressive items BAPE has ever released range from small decor (like clocks or books) to full-on furniture. This week's giveaway includes:
And here's how to play:
Disclaimer: The 10 winners of this giveaway will be selected and contacted on July 27th. You have until 11:59pm EST on July 26th to enter. To be considered for entry, you must complete all of the aforementioned steps. The three friends you tag must follow your Instagram page. While you can enter for all items available in this giveaway, only 10 unique winners will be selected. Along with the giveaway, we'll be dropping 20 of our favorite BAPE collaboration items on Thursday at 12 pm EST. When you have an archive of products like BAPE, it's easy to find items from the in-house lines that can pique the interest of fans and casual followers. It's the collaborations, however, that really showcase the universal appeal of such a globally recognized (streetwear) brand. It's not easy to stay at the top of your field for a quarter century but, then again, not every brand is quite as beloved as BAPE. Click the link below for more information on this week's Heatwave drop, and check back on Thursday to shop the collection: https://www.grailed.com/drycleanonly/heatwave-drop-5 [link] [comments] |
