[DISCUSSION] How long have you been into streetwear? Do you think you'll outgrow it/move on?

Posted: 18 Oct 2018 10:54 AM PDT

Personally, I got into streetwear/skatewear around 2011 with Diamond Supply, Obey, Crooks & Castles zzz. Supreme had just started getting big with Tyler the Creator's blowup (I wanted a camp cap so bad but it was way out of budget for a broke college kid lol). New Era snapbacks were HUGE and everyone wanted to color match their sneakers with their fits ahahaha. Most people in school/college dressed "preppy" with AE, Hollister, Abercrombie, or didn't care really, I think it's shifted a lot now. AFAIR streetwear is more of the trendy and dominant style nowadays.

Fast forward 7 years and I'm still super into streetwear, despite having a grown ass man job wearing a suit and tie 5 days a week. There's something about it that really appeals to me. My style has evolved a lot over time though. Now I wear more of a mix of MFA with streetwear, with still some loud graphics but more of a focus on clean silhouettes and color coordination. I think even when I'm in my 30's-40's with kids I'll be wearing streetwear, just age appropriately whatever that looks like.

How did y'all get into streetwear, and how do you think you'll feel about it down the road? I'm 25 for reference btw.

[DISCUSSION] It’s that time of the year. What’s your favorite winter jackets?

Posted: 19 Oct 2018 01:56 AM PDT

The winter is coming. I'm having troubles deciding what winter jacket I want to get. Last year I had a TNF Nuptse (which I personally think are amazing) but I want to get a new one.
I've been thinking about buying Napapijri or Tommy Hilfiger, but I'm not sure. I like having a winter jacket of colour because the winter is so dark overall.

So what about you guys, what type of winter jackets do you like?

[DISCUSSION]Do you wear jewelry? What kinds of accessories do you wear?

Posted: 18 Oct 2018 05:44 PM PDT

Hi all. I've been branching into adding accessories into my fits for a while but I want to diversify. I really like wearing clunky watches with my minimalistic fits, but I'm not really sure where to go from there. What little accessories do you add to your fits to make them pop out?

Also, do you tend to wear jewelry with your outfits? I was thinking of getting into wearing jewelry but I have no idea where to begin. There's just too many options and there's so much cheap looking crap online that it's kind of overwhelming. Let me know if you like wearing that kind of stuff.

[DISCUSSION] Sewing Machine Questions / General Advice

Posted: 18 Oct 2018 02:01 PM PDT

What's up everybody, I'm 15 and I'm currently a sophomore in high school. After high school I'm hoping to go to school for fashion, or something in the arts. In order to get myself ready I've started working on my drawing skills so I can hopefully start working on a portfolio.

I get super inspired whenever I see cool DIY projects, customizations and clothes that people have made themselves on here. I was watching a Jacob Wallace video yesterday where he stitched together two pairs of dickies for a side stripe type thing and it was dope, he made it look super easy.

This inspired me to want a sewing machine. I hope to work on DIY stuff and easy stuff in the beginning and hopefully branch out. If anyone on here has experience would it make sense for me to buy a machine right now? I did a little research today and found this machine for $78. Should I take some classes before I buy it? And also, is there anything I should know before I really get into it, or jump into purchasing that?

Thanks

[DISCUSSION] Trouser Chains

Posted: 17 Oct 2018 02:51 PM PDT

I'm currently looking for chains/rings like the ones here, here and here. I've searched everywhere for them and I can't seem to find any quite like them. All of the ones Ive found are more goth/emo (but like from the 2000's) which isn't what I'm looking for. I think they look super cool and I would love to have a small collection of them to mess around with to be honest. Any links at all would be greatly appreciated as well as any advice on how to style these type of chains well would be great as well. Also what do you guys think of trouser chains? Are they going out of style? Do they look good? When do they work/when don't they work?

Thanks!

[Discussion] Compliments

Posted: 17 Oct 2018 10:48 AM PDT

What's your most complimented piece?

I saw this kind of thread before and it had plenty of interesting answers. Were there any pieces you were surprised people liked? Was it a particularly expensive piece or maybe a cheaper one? I'm very curious to see what you all cherish.

Mine's is simple its a no brand name Hawaiian shit with an allover Tacos pattern and whenever I wear it out someone always comments either that or a J Crew Floral Shirt I picked up a few years ago. I'll post it in the comments. it doesn't just have to be tops though any clothing item that receives positive feedback.

[DISCUSSION] Cool shoe insert designs and how to protect them?!

Posted: 17 Oct 2018 07:09 PM PDT

Hello!

How does one protect the cool images on the inserts of limited edition shoes? I have other shoes with basic text or logos on the inserts and they're destroyed after a few weeks. Any thoughts or advice to not do that to my new DBZ x Adidas shoes? These shoes are amazingly comfortable and I really want to keep them clean and spotless the best I can. I already am using a protective spray. But the inserts.. They're too cool to not protect!

Thanks in advance!

[DISCUSSION] Streewear brands that use colour and printed fabrics

Posted: 16 Oct 2018 04:01 PM PDT

Hi r/streetwear,

I've been on the hunt for brands that mostly use printed fabrics/colour for their products, but haven't had much luck in my search so far. When I say printed fabrics, I mean ideally the whole garment, or the main body/sleeves, with plain, but non-neutral colour elsewhere; not just a standalone image on the front or the back. All that I've found has been limited runs, or just something like a camo print thrown into some brands' collections once in a while. Does anyone here have any suggestions on existing brands?

Thanks in advance!

[Discussion] Interested in being in a documentary about the London streetwear culture?

Posted: 16 Oct 2018 06:10 AM PDT

As part of our UAL Film Practice course, we've been tasked to make a documentary on a part of London. As our part has SoHo in it, we thought that a documentary on streetwear culture may be a great option, we are thinking about following a 'hype beat' and seeing why they love streetwear and how they monetise through Depop and reselling. If your interested please comment below or direct message me so we can talk about it further. Thanks.

[DISCUSSION] Redying Supreme x Lacoste 6 Panel Hat (Red)

Posted: 16 Oct 2018 07:04 PM PDT

Hello. A few months ago I copped this sweat Supreme x Lacoste 6 panel twill hat in the red colorway. I wear it about 2-5 times a week since I got it at release. The hat is in fine condition except that its starting to lose its color along the brim, along the top, and sides. I was wondering if there is a technique to really make the color pop again as it did when it was new. My guess this was from being out in the sun a shit ton, and not from chemicals from the soap I to wash it, since this was happening before i washed it. Any suggestions will help!
