[Discussion] How did ASSC get so popular?

Posted: 25 Feb 2018 08:33 AM PST

Anti social social club

-Poorly designed website

-Terrible/nonexistent customer service

-Products always out of stock 99% of the time

-Delivery takes months, if they ever arrive at all

-No direct ads on IG/FB/elsewhere (But I'm sure they do or did other marketing like paid promos)

Really curious if anyone knows the history of Anti Social Social Club and how they got so popular? Interested in it from a business perspective more than anything, they must have made some good moves early in their brand creation I would guess. Google isn't helping here.

[INSPO] Grungy/SLP inspo album

Posted: 25 Feb 2018 06:26 AM PST

here it is

Hi guys,

This is a relatively short inspo album i put together. It's mainly a Saint Laurent inspo but it also takes inspiration from 90s grunge fashion, which i feel really goes hand in hand with slp.

It features a lot of u/Konnietheblack and u/kodiakthebear9, as well as fits by some other posters on here and on the streetwear snap story, but it also has some hair inspo, plus some random pictures that i feel really encapsulate the whole ~aesthetic~

Let me know what you think, and if anything should be added to it, i hope you guys enjoy :)

[DISCUSSION] Jackboots, or other possibly interesting boots.

Posted: 26 Feb 2018 03:23 AM PST

Hey guys.

Lately I've been experimenting with my personal style, settling pretty well somewhere between military / surplus and overall grungier styles.

In doing so I've gotten a little tired of wearing my Docs since visually they seem a little small and boring, and was curious if people had any input on possible interesting alternatives that'd work. Jackboots maybe? Anything on the higher cut side.

Only possible issue is that I have pretty large calves, not sure if that'd matter much though. In any case though I've included a couple of old fit pics to show my build.

Fit 1 Fit 2

Thanks guys, interested in what your thoughts are.

[discussion] High Fashion vs Luxury

Posted: 25 Feb 2018 07:55 AM PST

Is high fashion and luxury the same or different? I think they are different as luxury is mostly for the "clout" and is more commonly faked. For example Louis Vuitton only slightly changes per season but the monogram and damier print are the focus. On the other hand a designer brand like Dries Van Noten always has the same general aesthetic but rarely does he repeat. I prefer designer as you will always be unique if you wear lux there will be millions wearing real and fake of the same thing you are wearing.

I also believe designers like pushing boundaries in different ways than luxury brands. For example, the Raf Simons x Adidas Ozweego was against every standard for shoes at the time: slim, lightweight, athletic. The Ozweego didn't catch on instantly but shortly started getting bigger in popularity. Now in 2017 and 2018 the dad shoe trend exploded and it is one of the leaders. Luxury brands however sell based on the shock factor. How does a Chanel boomerang sell out, because its Chanel and unnecessary. How does a Supreme brick sell out? Because its useless and has tonal Supreme writing.

Lastly designers are willing to take risks that might not sell well. To be ahead of the game you need to experiment with trial and error. luxury brands however follow the saying "don't fix whats not broken," which is why we will most likely not see anything new fro, Goyard for years, because they are making a ton of money.

What do you guys think and what is your preference?

[discussion] finding inspiration

Posted: 25 Feb 2018 02:50 PM PST

I'm struggling to find inspo for the style that I like right now. The best way I can describe what I like is Bleblebob, ImDeluxx and rataface's newer style. I like the clean fitting look. However, I'm struggling to find more inspiration other than these posters. I tried looking at the side bar but I would say those are outdated IMO. I enjoy seeing all the fits but all black techwear isn't really my thing. Or all black in general. I want to narrow in on these styles. Even though I don't rock baggy clothes, I'm even down to find some inspo like MrNar where they can throw some nice colors together. The most blackish style I like is KonnieTheBlack's style.

Instagrams, blogs, etc. where can I find more of these types of styles?? Where do you it's find inspiration in general? TBH, forums like reddit or KTT are dead. Is everything on instagram?

[DISCUSSION] Is pinrolling with chelseas a bad move or is it fine?

Posted: 24 Feb 2018 02:21 AM PST

I almost never really see people pinrolling like that https://imgur.com/1HGmBkQ but I just got a pair and I really like how it looks, it really shows the shape of the boot well and gives it a more sleek look.

https://imgur.com/a/gpbDy in this album rarely anyone is rolling their jeans up and if they are then they are still standing on top of the boots. Is there something about showing socks that is considered weird or is just an old classic tradition thing to wear them like that, jeans stacked on top. I really want to wear them like I showed in my picrture but also feel like people might think I do not know what I'm doing. How are you all wearing your chelseas?

[DISCUSSION] Engagement groups for streetwear

Posted: 23 Feb 2018 01:56 PM PST

Hello everyone. I know that there are two posts already about engagement groups but one is super old and another one the OP seemed inactive :( so I decided to create a new one!

For those who don't know, engagement groups for Instagram is a group where people follow each other and support each other's post by commenting and liking on their posts whenever the group members request for one. A google search might give you a better idea about it too.

So I thought it'd be a good way for people in the subreddit to share their posts for more publicity to help each other grow, and learn more about streetwear through each other's fits!

If you're interested leave me your insta accounts and I'll follow you and add to the group :)

It's presently 4:51am... and I've spent the whole day today putting together lighting and a makeshift photo studio in my little sewing shop, taking photos with a couple friends, and editing... so much editing.
