[Discussion] Dickies pants

Posted: 05 Jul 2018 09:56 PM PDT

Lately I've been eyeing on some new pants.

I normally wear 32x32 or 33x32 on regular denim. Do I order the same sizing for these pants or do I size down if I want the tapered look? Not sure if I should get either the 873 or 874.

Also, are there any other pants that look like the dickies pants? I don't know any other good brands that carry work pants.

[DISCUSSION] Lack of motivation, any tips?

Posted: 05 Jul 2018 09:08 AM PDT

Is it just me who's noticed people in this sub being really negative. I've seen way too many people saying/commenting really negative shit on posts that, just reading it even though it wasn't about me, was really demotivating. I'm new here but It's really intimidating when you're considering posting a fit on the WDYWT thread but just before you do you click on a post to see someone literally saying "95% of the time no matter what you do there will always be someone who does it better than you so you might as well give up now" etc. The worst part is people replied to that comment with "preach king" and the like. I might just be over sensitive but as someone who is trying to get into the fashion industry and is looking to do a degree to do with it and make a living in it it's seriously demoralising. People always say making a living in fashion is hard anyway and then seeing that shit isn't great either. I'm probably just being oversensitive like I said but if you guys have any tips for kind of getting motivated then please let me know. Also if there's anyone young in the fashion industry reading this please give me some tips and tell me what it's really like? Thanks!

Streetwear stores and openings

Posted: 06 Jul 2018 01:18 AM PDT

For years I have searched for a store other than concepts or bodega to quench my thirst for streetwear, and high end fashion retailers. Boston is lacking in stores to find limited clothing brands ie. (Balenciaga, gucci, louis vuitton, supreme, Versace, stüssy, palace, and off white.) Why, for the love of god...cant they just open up a store or two of some brands that people would actually be willing to purchase, all you will find in Boston is Burberry. I am trying to figure out how these consignment and secondhand streetwear stores actually start up and are created. Where do they get the products to start up the business? How much are the profits? How do you find out if the audience of consumers Is in the area? Does anyone else ever want to just get up and start a store in a city which is lacking in streetwear?

[DISCUSSION] Black Air Force 1's

Posted: 04 Jul 2018 04:00 PM PDT

So I am a young Aussie boy wanting to dress smart and look extra fly for my homeboys. Problem is I don't have enough money for shoes such as Doc Martens and currently Black Air Force 1's are $75 (White are $150). I'm a pretty skinny dude and like to wear cropped pants and nice button up shirts. Could someone explain the stigma behind Black Air Force 1's and why it possibly gets hate, or even recommend any other cool shoes. Mucho gracias

[DISCUSSION] Just wanna share a shitty experience buying from MSFTS (Jaden Smith's Brand)

Posted: 04 Jul 2018 06:37 AM PDT

Backstory

Around 3 weeks ago, I bought 3 black Syre hoodies from msftsrep.com. Due to the expensive shipping prices to my country (Indonesia), I have it shipped to my friend in the US who'll come home to Indonesia in July.

When the package arrived at his house, he didn't open it for like 5 days. He's very busy with exams at the time and we both just assumed the order is fine. I mean, msftsrep is kind of a huge brand, they wouldn't ship the wrong item or anything right? That's why I was very surprised when he told me that only 2 hoodies arrived, instead of 3. Personally I have no problem with this, everyone makes mistakes, they could've easily ship one more or even just refund it, simple right?

So here's the reason why I made this post. I've been trying to contact MSFTSrep in every way possible for almost 2 weeks and I haven't received any replies.

I've tried :

Their customer service is basically non-existent.

I expected so much better from a brand who puts "MSFTSrep view customer satisfaction as paramount" on their policy. This is by far the worst experience I have while buying online. Hell, I've bought many items from a sketchy Chinese seller who doesn't even speak English, and he still provided me with a better service than MSFTSrep do.

Unfortunately, chargeback is not an option. I've contacted my back and they said it's not possible.

If anyone have any idea of how to contact them, or know anyone who works for MSFTSrep please let me know.

[Discussion] Ethical streetwear brands?

Posted: 04 Jul 2018 04:23 AM PDT

Does anyone know any streetwear related brands that are ethical in the sense that they don't rely on slave labour or exploit 3rd world nations with no workers rights? I'm in Australia btw so it'd be preferred if they were located in Australia, I'm sick of buying second hand clothing.

I also think a list of ethical brands may be a nice thing to add the to sidebar in this sub.

[NEWS] LA brand Chinatown Market fined by NBA

https://imgur.com/a/KO4wSdq

https://hypebeast.com/2018/7/nba-fines-chinatown-market-lebron-james-lakers-incident

Chinatown posted the document they received from the NBA saying they violated the tampering policy. They specifically refer to the post I put in the album. The fine was $50k and Chinatown is currently having a 40% off sale to fund this loss. I personally think this fine is ridiculous as the post the NBA questions seems very clearly to not be serious especially if you know the reputation of Chinatown being jokers. Also to say they had a doing in lebrons decisions seems outrageous. I would be interested in hearing other people's opinions on this situation.

[DISCUSSION] Any Websites with Analysis Fashion Designers (and their work)??

Is there such a thing out there? I'm looking for analysis of their clothing, brand, aesthetics, thought process into any particular collections, etc.

[DISCUSSION] What are you favourite floral shirts for the summer?

Posted: 03 Jul 2018 12:14 PM PDT

It's super hot in the UK at the moment and I'm going on a few holidays soon. I'm looking for floral button-ups that don't look like something my dad would wear. Preferably a light material and short sleeve. Comment your favourites; any price/brand.

Word Minimum Word Minimum Word Minimum Word Minimum Word Minimum

Word minimum is dumb, I have nothing else to add. All it does is force me to pad out this post with garbage and distract from the actual topic. "Word" doesn't even look like a word anymore. Anyway that should be enough words now, cheers.

tl;dr - post floral shirts.

[DISCUSSION] What's the best way of finding clothes when youre short?

Posted: 03 Jul 2018 12:40 PM PDT

So i wouldnt consider myself to be at an average height (5'4"), so looking for clothes that properly fit have been pretty difficult. I was trying stuff on today and i had to dig through so much just to find something that somewhat fit me well. Like im considering getting my clothes tailored or shopping in the kids section just because it can be so hard.

[DISCUSSION] Shorts for the summer/bottoms

Posted: 03 Jul 2018 06:56 PM PDT

Its summer now and hot AF out and my general question is what shorts do I buy. Ive been able to get by for now with a simple pair of all white shorts, but I find that gives me more of prep look. I didnt know if any one had any suggestions. I know basketball shorts and athletic shorts are popular choices but I find them hard to find for a cheaper price and good quality. Im also not too be of a fan of the entire athleisure look. Its too hot out here right now where I am to layer so I need to keep it simple and able to get air to my legs. The majority of my shirts are either solid colors or logo tees.

[DISCUSSION] What to do with too long tops?

Posted: 03 Jul 2018 06:27 AM PDT

So I have a couple of long sleeves that are too long, and they make my legs look really tiny. In other words they mess up my proportions. I would buy new clothes, but I'm kinda broke, so I have to work with what I have.

Is there anything to do with them except tucking them? I usually tuck them in, but i don't know if I'm sold on that all the time. Would really appreciate it if you left some suggestions below!

Now I just have to make sure this post is long enough, so you don't have to read this part of the post, it's the same thing over again:
