[DISCUSSION] Is customizing (cheap) clothes seen as corny and lame?

Posted: 03 Nov 2018 10:25 PM PDT

sup r/streetwear havent been on here in a few years, so pardon me if i seem out of the loop or whatever just dont hurt me...

the other day at the thrift store i bought an xl pastel light blue old lady raincoat that i really fw for some reason and as soon as i seent it, i had a strong urge to spray paint/air brush "i miss you" on the back in bright red. i dont wanna ruin it and i definitely dont wanna look like a fool, so i just thought i'd get some type of input before i go about doing that.

im gonna do it either way, bc i cant afford the clothes i want so i have to find other ways to express my feelings. but i just wanna know what im getting myself into first yanno

thank ya <3

[Discussion] need help starting my own clothes!!

Posted: 03 Nov 2018 11:46 PM PDT

Im tired of buying clothes from different brands and i really just want to create my own stuff, whether i end up selling stuff, I DONT KNOW YET. But iv been creating clothes in my house for a while now with gildan tees and paint markers. I always create new designs then I have to hand paint them all. WAYYY to much work for the meh look, Im wondering whats the best way to get started doing my own clothes ( screenprinting) i would like to do it in house preferably and im not rich! I was thinking of buying just a printer, iron on transferable paper, and just do that for now. What would you guys recommend ? Any tips will be helpful !

[Discussion] Advice thread for people building and/or restarting their wardrobe.

Posted: 03 Nov 2018 01:45 AM PDT

If anyone has any questions or advice/tips about curating their wardrobe (budgeting, style inspo, brands, etc.) I'm sure many people out there would appreciate the insight.

My advice is in regards to being on a budget. I would say it's important to focus more on pants first. You'll quickly find how difficult it is to put a fit together when all you have is blue jeans and sweatpants to go with your 10 box logos, visvim waist bag, and 4 pairs of Yeezy Boosts. Focus on the bottoms first, that's what really ties the outfit together. This will make it easier to coordinate with your shoes, and to deal with not having very many tops you can make time by just wearing hoodies and jackets a lot.

Edit: Another tip would be to coordinate, not match (unless you're color blocking). I.e., don't be that guy in some Black Toe 1s, black skinny jeans, a red/white/black graphic tee, and a Bulls snapback. Nobody talks to that guy.

[DISCUSSION] Searching for a very lightweight bag

Posted: 03 Nov 2018 09:05 AM PDT

After spending 2 full days looking for a bag that would work for me I'm finally asking for help.

I'm looking for something very lightweight, less that 400g while empty, that would fit a 13 inch laptop but not necessarily having to be able to close properly with it inside, have a few pockets/not be too deep like a usual backpack, so I can retrieve things without too much searching. Preferably simple one color design so I can wear it every day.

Currently I'm using a VS nylon tote bag and it's perfect except the shitty quality, it's falling apart.

Any ideas?
