Welcome to the daily WDYWT Thread!

WDYWT = What Did You Wear Today. It doesn't necessarily need to be what you were wearing TODAY. Please make sure you have read the WDYWT rules including information about posting outside of this thread. WDYWT is set to Contest Mode. This means that you will not be able to see the number of upvotes a comment has. Despite this, we still encourage everyone to vote.

[DISCUSSION] the mods are witches, wide leg trousers are scary, i saw Goody CommanderSheperd consorting with the devil

Posted: 30 Nov 2018 12:42 AM PST

let me start off by saying i've never posted in this subreddit and i don't know what 'clothes' are. i've never not been nude in my entire life. instead of buying ''''clothes'''' and posting ''''''''fits''''''' (as SOME PEOPLE like to call them) i have an intricate series of full-body tattoos, which i modify every morning with the help of my friend who is a nearly-professional tattoo artist. i usually wear a montage of supreme logos and a large bape face over my downstairs crime zone.

anyway, recently i've seen a lot of pictures posted on this subreddit which just aren't streetwear. for example, if i saw someone in my town wearing corduroy or a hat, i would report them to the parish priest and have them excommunicated. frankly, if you wore some of these outfits where i live (Summerisle, the fashion capital of the outer hebrides), you'd likely to burned to death in order to bring our crops back.

don't get me wrong, i'm very fashion-forward and i love new things, but also i hate new things, the mods won't stop throwing rocks at my house, and what i'm really looking for in a subreddit is pictures of spongebob squarepants saying THIS AINT IT CHIEF to a guy wearing patterned trousers.

[DISCUSSION] This sub is suffering from a lack of creativity and too many restrictions.

Posted: 29 Nov 2018 02:01 PM PST

Inspired from the top post earlier, I want to make a plea with the mods. This sub used to be a place where anyone could post and spread their ideas, now it's become elitist to the point where it's just power users using this sub as instagram and gathering mega-clout. Instead of seeing new, creative fits it's the same styles and fits made by the same handful of users.

I understand the whitelist system and why it was implemented but we all know no one cares enough to go through it except the die-hard users which post almost everyday. And you could say this has eliminated annoying, repetitive trends but they're still here. A painted denim jacket is at the top of this sub every other day.

Why does this sub have to be different from every other sub? Why do the mods take fashion this seriously and force you to be a serial-poster if you want to contribute a good fit? Streetwear is about individuality and expression so why are there so many draconian rules implemented just to make this sub more restricted. This is why we have like 600k dead subs, and it's why this sub peaked 2 years ago.

I believe that the whitelist should be removed, there shouldn't be a WDYWT thread that casual users aren't gonna post to, and that memes should be allowed so this sub is actually interesting again. They really banned memes hahaha. And also don't make people type a paragraph for a simple question because we all know half the questions in the designated thread go unanswered.

All creativity and unique ideas come from casual posters, but they meet a wall when they have to go through the whitelist bullshit.

And for those complaining about an influx of trash posts, karma naturally filters the good posts from the shitty. And it doesn't even matter if there are shitty posts just browse past them, like almost every sub on Reddit. I know there was a vote and the opinions of users change a lot but we can tell that a mostly unrestricted sub is better for interesting and funny content.

Please discuss kings

Edit: A comment by /u/Aunti3_matter

This is the thought process of someone who is newly interested with streetwear as of now:

"I have this cool idea for a fit that I think people will like! I think this really does a good job expressing what styles I'm partial to!"

Send us 15 different fits that are all perfectly photographed and color corrected so you can post the one fit that you are actually enthusiastic about or you can go fuck off

"Cool! Won't visit this sub again"

[DISCUSSION] Best Brands with strong unique visual identity + aesthetic that also carry cheap chest rigs

Basically the title, strong visual aesthetic identity and cheap chest rigs accessories, preferably skating. Seems like there are a few alternatives but who wins the gauntlet?

[DISCUSSION] How do I dress business casual-ish without looking like a dork?

Posted: 29 Nov 2018 12:41 PM PST

My office is right between full business casual and more relaxed. Most guys wear slacks with tucked in dress shirts or jeans with tucked in dress shirts.

80% look terrible, it's usually black slacks with a blue shirt.

Even with the right fits these clothes are just boring and to me don't look stylish at all. There is some opportunity to buck the trend as it's not strict on dress code and I want to dress right while not looking like I came off an assembly line of office worker.

How would you handle this?
