Innovation Fit Battle 2017 Announcement + Brand Sponsorship Opportunity

Posted: 07 Aug 2017 05:29 PM PDT

Hey guys,

To hold us over until the FW17 iteration of our biannual fit battle we will be hosting a themed interim fit battle.

The theme of the interim fit battle for 2017 is innovation.

Innovation can be defined simply as a "new idea, device or method". However, innovation is often also viewed as the application of better solutions that meet new requirements, unarticulated needs, or existing market needs.

We're taking advantage of the opportunity and experimenting with a few of the characteristics of the fit battle this time around.

  • The format is 16 contestant single elimination, you can view the bracket here

  • Here is the release calendar for submissions/voting posts

To enter the fit battle you will need to submit a fit and your reddit username here

The mod team will review the submissions and choose the top 16 contestants to be in the fit battle. The users chosen will be able to use those fits for their Round 1 submission.

There will be a reminder post in the form of the Round 1 Submissions post on Friday. The cutoff to enter is before the Round 1 Voting begins, or August 15.

We're currently looking for brands willing to sponsor the fit battle winners, or possibly help introduce a giveaway system into the fit battle.

In recent history our fit battles have been sponsored by:

Windfall Clothing

mstrmind

If you run a brand and would be interested in sponsoring the fit battle, please email

Foreign Language T-Shirts

Posted: 07 Aug 2017 11:21 PM PDT

I really like T-shirts with foreign language text on them. Japanese is my favorite, but I also like mandarin, french, italian, anything foreign. I know you can find like foreign T-shirts on like eBay or Amazon but they are cheap foreign brands or Gildan tees. If there are any quality brands that have a lot of foreign stuff or even just single pieces, I would be interested in that sort of stuff. Even if there is a website or something that showcases a lot of foreign tees, that would help me. Thanks

What's a piece you've disliked at first, but after seeing it more, you've grown to like?

Posted: 07 Aug 2017 07:55 AM PDT

I've kind of always disliked blocky, bulky shoes. Shoes like Ozweegos, Air Force 1 low tops, etc. But after seeing how well they go with certain outfits, I'm looking at buying a pair of bulky shoes because they honestly look so good with certain outfits. Also, I thought I would be rocking skinny jeans for the rest of my life, but with my recent love for bulkier shoes, I've started to like looser pants and looser fits in general.

What are your thoughts on owning over 100 t-shirts?

Posted: 07 Aug 2017 11:33 AM PDT

Is that weird?

I'm 23 and I absolutely LOVE t-shirt art. I go to thrift stores a lot and just buy a bunch of old brands. Trying to sell them on Craigslist haha

I counted my t-shirts in my closet and I own about 120. Is that hoarder behavior? A lot these are rare and one a kind, I just can't bear to donate or throw away. I just feel kind of weird when my homeboys tell me they only own 14 t-shirts. Like, I just feel kind of weird owning all these t-shirts.

Yeah, I would like to sell them. Yeah, I don't want to.

They just mean a lot to me. They are precious. I want as much t-shirts as possible. I'm not rich or anything. I work 40 hours a week. I just love art.

Do you think buying hyped pieces makes you a hype beast?

Posted: 07 Aug 2017 11:56 PM PDT

I personally own a pair of Vapor Maxes and Yeezy's, however, I didn't get them because everyone else was bandwagoning on them. In fact, I don't even have hyped colorways. I got the cream Yeezy V2s retail and the 2.0 triple black Vapor maxes for the same. I got these because I really liked their silhouettes not because I wanted to stunt but because I thought they'd go great with my wardrobe. I consider a hype beast someone that buys pieces that are overly hyped (like BAPE, V-LONE, and some of OFF-WHITE imho) and don't care about the styling but only stunting cough Just Wynn, Blake Lynder, and Blazendary cough. What do you think a hypebeast is and do hypebeast annoy you? Just leave your opinions about them. Or do whatever you want, idc.

Why are Asian countries generally more fashionable?

Posted: 08 Aug 2017 03:35 AM PDT

I personally think it's because they have better access to wide array of cheap yet fashionable knockoffs from China where as Americans have limited access to a few fast fashion chains and the original albeit very expensive designer brands. I think it's the knockoffs that allow them to keep up with fashion at a faster rate. If anyone has any other ideas I'd love to hear them.

Posted: 07 Aug 2017 07:04 PM PDT

hey reddit,

i haven't seen one of these here in a while or i might of been dead but who knows. anyways, i wanna do an instagram exchange but with some sort of a biography about yourself.

EXAMPLE

@jakelikesclothing

i have more of a hybrid style of designer and streetwear. i try to mix and match them both to create all my fits!

anyways i feel that a biography about your page would make this a lot easier to navigate on people who you can link and build with!

thanks guys and gals!

What colour hoodie under my flecktarn parka?

Posted: 08 Aug 2017 03:34 AM PDT

I have this flecktarn parka which I usually wear with black jeans, white/black sneakers or black boots and a t-shirt. It's getting cold though so I want a hoodie under it but I'm not sure what colour to go for. I was thinking dark grey but am not sure.
