Basic clothing shopping tutorial! (positive feedback only please) Posted: 09 Aug 2017 02:54 PM PDT START WITH BASICS Part 1- basic Tees TEES- Tees are probably the most overlooked item that not just street wear audiences use but that basically everyone overlooks. I would say start off with a good few regular fit tee shirts including the colors white, black, and grey. I recommend picking up these types of tees at preferably but not limited to: http://www.hm.com/us - long and regular fit tee shirts (divided line preferably) These tee shirts will serve you well with fit and quality… but keep an eye out, because they sell out fast and are rarely in stock. Fruit of the loom and Hanes Being so inexpensive and cheap, these will be valuable assets for white tees. Keeping in mind that white tee shirts are not just easily gotten dirty, but just yellow and discolor, and thin (other tees do this as well but are not as visible) over time, this will be a great go to option for basic white tees. Comfort Colors / Gildan One of the top picked brands for go to tee shirts not just by street wear followers but general mainstream audiences, is easily GILDAN and Comfort Colors. Comfort Colors is known for its quality and comfort as well as it is known for its moderately cheap price, coming in at about $9 to $10 dollars, are not only good quality and good fitting, but are on the cheaper side. I say Cheap'ER' because I got a 9 pack of Hanes tees for 15 dollars at Wal-Mart, so looking at what u can get for less, there is a pretty steep price difference. I personally prefer going the cheaper route and buying Hanes or Fruit of the Loom than getting super expensive basics and spending the saved money else where were design and personal aesthetic will shine, or where it just be a basic hyped up item such as a supreme box logo tee, I prefer putting the money towards other things. High end basic Tees – High-end basics include expensive basics such as John Elliot where a basic tee shirt is going to tax you about 100 dollars, how ever you are not just paying the name but extremely high quality as well. (John Elliot is one of many high-end basic brands but this one was really the only one I could think up off the top of my head). Part 2 Basic hoodies – Hoodies are definitely less over looked than tees, but still over looked still. Hoodies are also an extremely valuable asset to dressing nice, non-the less dressing street wear. Hoodies are insanely important to casual dressing, whether it be crew necks, or whether it be hoodies, a nice sweatshirt can make or break a fit. You can not only wear a basic hoodie by it-self. You can also have your sweatshirt be your stand out piece. However for the winter when its getting relatively chilly, you can layer it under a coach jacket, bomber jackets, flannels, etc. I will talk more about layering later on. You can even pop it on as a flex piece such as a Supreme New York™ box logo (I will talk more about flex pieces later on as well), or a crazy design on the front or back that will make your outfit pop. Hoodies none the less are extremely important Basic hoodie styles– there are many brands in which you can cop basic hoodies… but before you buy anything, you need to make sure you know what you want. There are crewnecks, hooded sweatshirts, and zip-ups. These are the most basic ways to put it. While many of the hoodies you will find have strings you will have to take out, some hoodies are string less. Others have zippers on the sides, others have elongated backs and others don't. While it can be hard to find the perfect hoodie I will recommend some hoodies to you guys here. Hoodie brands – Some of the most popular are in my opinion, are champion, Carhartt, Urban-outfitters, HM, John Elliot, but are not limited to these. There are tons of different places were you can get hoodies. HM and Champion (depending where you get them from) will most likely be the cheapest option looking at 25-30 depending on sales from HM, and Champion ranging from 30-40 on eBay, or the retail price of 65 for exclusive color ways and collaborations such as the UO rose and taupe color ways, or the mint and lavender. Exclusive releases of certain hoodies can spike upwards 150 USD all the way to hundreds upon hundreds of dollars and can even be put into the thousands depended on hype and rarity (guesstimating the amounts). However if your not looking at super rare and/or hyped up pieces, then your probably looking at 30- a few hundred dollars, depending on brand and quality. Champion If you are looking at champion just go on eBay and type in champion hoodie. The basic ones are marked as the s700 and go around 15-25 USD with out shipping, while the more advanced, more durable ones are marked as the reverse weave which will tax you about 30 USD without shipping. Now for the exclusives if you can catch a deal such as a UO x Champion collaboration hoodie for retail (in stock on the urban outfitters website RIGHT NOW! ACT FAST! ) Part 3 Basic trousers and jeans Depending on your personal aesthetic and body shape, everyone will find themselves requiring different needs. Whether it be the fit or whether it be the quality, or whether it be how it looks on the person, everyone is different, and what may fit one person will not fit another the same way. All I can really say is don't buy any kind of pant without trying it out first hand in store before purchasing online, because I said it one time and I will say it again, everyone's needs are different. Now to get on the different types of pants. There are many places you can get pants from, whether it be Levis, HM, Pingy Pants, Dickies, APC, Calvin Klein, and many others. HM will easily be the cheapest on this list coming in at prices ranging from 15 up to 40. I personally found them to be uncomfortable but for the price… they do the job and fit well. Levis are very good quality, however I did not find it to be as form fitting for me. I ended up going with American Eagle (I know… roast me), but they fit me the best and were BOGO 50 OFF with the jeans each being $50, and with constant sales how could I not cop. Personally, when it comes to jeans, I personally don't care about name brands or if its street wear or not. Its all about how it fits and if it gets the job done, and if someone tells you other wise, they need to get there head out of there rear. Personally, what ever looks good fits well, and feels comfortable is what you should go for. Dickies are also very good and can be dressed up, or down. However I don't where much Dickies so I can't really talk on how to style them. Part 4 Wrapping up Wrapping it up, the main points are:
I hope that who ever reads this, noob or not, took something away from this. I started this as a list to help my friend and thought hey… why not turn it into a reddit post. Its my first post on teaching fashion I guess so sorry if I didn't do the greatest. How ever, if you don't like it, be positive and appropriate. I strive to get better so better is what I will get. Thank you to anyone who read all of it. Peace guys! [link] [comments] | ||
