[discussion]What can you do to retaliate when a notoriously dirty store backdoors the shoe you were first in line for.

Posted: 06 Mar 2018 04:29 AM PST

im gonna make it simple.

basically, a notoriously dirty streetwear/sneaker supply store in my city refused to sell me a pair of Pharrell's original Human Race nmd's when im 99% sure they did have at least one of the sizes i requested.

we're all used to taking an L here or there, but when you get up at 5am, get first in line, go in happy af to finally catch a grail, just to get denied? it was a whileee ago but i still want to get back at them a little.

something like this ever happen to you? whatd you do about it?

[Discussion] We're doing a documentary about streetwear. Can someone please help answer some questions?

Posted: 06 Mar 2018 01:03 PM PST

Hello everyone. I'm a college student who's studying communication and we're doing a documentary about streetwear for our audio visual class. I was wondering if anyone could further explain to me what streetwear really is? Why are you part of this community, what do you love most about it and how you became a part of it? We've already interviewed some brands who sells streetwear, but would really like to hear from the consumers, the people who wears the them, or the people who makes up the community of streetwear.

How did you find out about it, how did you get into streetwear and who are the people who influenced you?

I'm doing this as part of research. Any form of answer is welcome and would really appreciate if someone answers the questions above. thanks! :D

[REVIEW] Vans X Metallica

Posted: 06 Mar 2018 09:23 AM PST

Pics: https://imgur.com/a/dteIK

Background: Vans and Metallica first collaborated on shoes inspired by the 'Kill'em All' album in 2012 when celebrating the album's 30th anniversary. In addition to that, Half Cabs were commemorating their 20th anniversary, so it was the ideal time to connect the two together. The shoes had a text printed into the foxing of the sole, which was translucent. In the following year, the 'Signature' line of shoes emerged and every band member designed their own colourway. After that, two models – Sk8-Hi and Slip-On were released in 2013, rocking the colours of the 'Kill'em All' cover again.

Review: This year's collaboration of Vans and Metallica released in very limited quantities only at selected partners' locations and took its inspiration from the actual show in House of Vans. The shoes comprise a canvas-made Slip-On and Sk8-Hi made of leather, both sporting the bold new Metallica logo. The logo is split in halves on the front of the Slip-On and it goes around the ankle on the Sk8-Hi. Furthermore, the foxing is stamped around the sole, as it was the case on the Half Cabs. Yet this time, it was the logo again that was pressed there, not song lyrics. It is probably the strongest detail of the whole collaboration. Apart from that, we are witnessing a standard execution of classic models. The collection also includes t-shirts and hats that have Metallica logo inscribed into the same frame that is used by House of Vans.

Personally, I think this year's limited collab is the best after the Half Cabs from Kill'em All. It works so well with the large branding and it is a visually pure staple that collaborative projects of Vans and Metallica were missing for so long.
