[DISCUSSION] What’s a streetwear brand you won’t go after, and why?

Posted: 09 Jun 2018 02:14 PM PDT

Everyone eventually develops their own style, well, sense of style, but I think we all have that one (or even multiple) brand/s that we just don't reach for.

Reasoning can be anything and everything.

For me, it's BAPE. The combo of being difficult to track down specific pieces, along with the entry level pricing being steeper than many other brands... plus, I am not a fan of camouflage prints, in general.

I do like some of their collab pieces, but haven't chased any down.

(Also, mods... why give me a function for Flair, and then ALSO make me bracket the flair in plain text?)

[DISCUSSION] What streetwear brand WILL you go after and why?

Posted: 09 Jun 2018 06:45 PM PDT

This is in response to the other post that went up about brands that you wouldn't go after. I saw some interesting perspective that made me think differently about some of the brands that I was indifferent about.

I personally like Carrots a lot. I know it's super simple, but the I like the coloring, and the type font quite a bit. It seems to fit a pretty basic aesthetic.

I don't know if it's considered a streetwear brand, but I also love Uniqlo. Great price point, and from a quality stand point I still have things I bought years ago.

[DISCUSSION] Info on this vintage Hermes bomber?

Posted: 09 Jun 2018 04:44 AM PDT

Hello!

Was lucky enough to find this for cheap at a vintage shop.

https://imgur.com/a/jeNIxGq

Does anybody know from what time this might be from? And if it might be genuine?

Or from where could I get some info?

It does not have the label inside but many that look the same and seem to be from the same era do not have a tag as well.

Can not really find anything on the web, there are some scarf with the same hot air balloon design from the eighties that indicate it might be from the same time period.

The inside pockets have a print too and there are these shoulder pads, so it really seems pretty high quality imo. These should be made from silk, satin and cotton and it seems like this perfectly fits the description, from what I am aware of. Not really an expert on fabric.

Thanks!

[DISCUSSION] What is REALLY holding Kanye West from breaking into fashion?

Posted: 09 Jun 2018 07:22 PM PDT

Specifically High Fashion i guess? We've seen Pharrell and Virgil Aboh do it.

Kanye has the money. He has the creative vision. If nothing else, he could just hire some of the best graphic designers, artists, creative, etc.

So what really is stopping him? Its not like he's some young person browsing reddit who has the ideas but lacks the support or money. He has everything he needs.

He was already in the position of Virgil not long ago to mix street wear with high fashion (thats what his overall vision was, right?)...so really what is it?

There are so many routes he could've taken Pastelle...the billionaire boys club route, the Off White Route, the Yeezus era route...so what really is holding him back?

I think it is that he's chasing approval. He one of his recent interviews, during the time he was heavy tweeting, he went in on talking about fashion and listed a whole bunch of French, Italian, foreign names...what the fuck that mean? He has the money, he can do whatever he wants. But if he sits here and tries to get their approval of working with him, then he'll never succeed...but oh well

[Discussion] Instagram Streetwear name - small prize

Posted: 09 Jun 2018 11:28 AM PDT

So basically I currently have a streetwear account on IG with 10k followers, but the name is just not up to par yet. I'm looking for someone to come up with a creative name that I can apply to my account, and the winner will get $5 paypal, and a shoutout (2k-3k views on story with over 100,000 impressions on account).

My account is a hypebeast/streetwear - very similar to @liljupiterr - and I'm thinking of incorporating musicians/rappers in the future. Something like streetwearsrevenge (Taken) is what I'm looking for, like a mix of an artist and streetwear component - my favourite artists would be travisscott, lil uzi vert, migos if it helps. I know it is quite lazy and I should probably be thinking of my own account name but I think that there are people out here on this subreddit that can come up for a better, well thought name. Thanks!
