[INSPO] Best of Menswear Spring 2019

Posted: 29 Jun 2018 02:06 PM PDT

Straight to the album

Here's my "little" collection of my favorite images and fits from the Vogue Spring 2019 Runway collection. I tried to include as many brands as possible but I surely missed some, feel free to PM me if you feel something belongs in here. Also a quick reminder that for many designers the runways are a unique form of art and therefore some pieces are created not for wearability but artistic purposes. The looks you see here are not going to be identical to what will be sold in stores.

This is as said for Spring 2019 and because of that there's a lot of guessing as what will be trendy at that point. Vogue put together an article discussing the trend's seen at the various shows if you're interested. Something not mentioned that I noticed is how much matching there is, a lot of matching your top(s) to your bottom, not only in colour but also in identical pattern. Really curious to how this holds up for next year.

My favorite runways are Ann Demeulemeester, Thom Browne, Alexander McQueen and Alyx. Make sure to check these four out and if anything catches your eye from the other brands give their shows a look, good chance you will find more.

The brands in this album are as followers:

  • 1-10 Alyx
  • 11-18 Dior
  • 19-20 Enfants Riches Déprimés
  • 21-24 Alchemist
  • 25-36 Thom Browne
  • 37-50 Alexander McQueen
  • 51-58 Faith Connexion
  • 59-63 Louis Vuitton
  • 64-71 Maison Margiela
  • 72-79 Amiri
  • 80-85 Ami
  • 86-97 Ann Demeulemeester
  • 98-102 Etudes
  • 103-108 Palm Angels
  • 109-112 Off-White
  • 113-117 Raf Simons
  • 118-122 Prada
  • 123-129 Rick Owens
  • 130-135 Saint Laurent
  • 136-144 Valentino
  • 145-159 Undercover
  • 160-167 Yohji Yamamoto
  • 168-176 Versace

album once again

ENJOY

[DISCUSSION] Any advice for someone who wants to get into streetwear but thinks that the personality that comes with it doesnt fit them?

Posted: 29 Jun 2018 04:22 PM PDT

I love the aesthetic of this sub, but i feel like the main factor holding me back is the fact that im in high school and most kids wear either really simple or really sporty shit, and idk how my friends would react to me changing myself so quickly. Last year i wore a hoodie and basic jeans every day so i can imagine how theyd feel if i showed up one day in skinny jeans and layers.

[DISCUSSION] "Third World" Streetwear

Posted: 29 Jun 2018 11:46 PM PDT

Street clothes scene mostly center around the "fashion capitals" of the world (aka privileged) but how about from those countries where they're not really known for it? Do they just ape those from the USA, Japan, Korea, Europe respective of their regions (for example, SEA to East Asia or Africa and Middle East to Europe) or do they come up with their own styles, brands etc? I'd like to know.

In addition, any designer brands and stylists from these places that you'd like to share would be greatly appreciated. We'd be giving them a service by giving them more publicity and spreading the word around.

[Discussion] Anyone know where to find streetwear specific market research?

Posted: 29 Jun 2018 02:30 PM PDT

So I'm working on a business plan and part of that means I of course have to do some market analysis. It's pretty easy to look at statistics as they relate to the fashion industry, but streetwear seems to have some really conflicting numbers based off of the different reports I've seen. I'm most interested to see if it is growing or not and a market value. I know that in the early 2010's it was at something crazy like 30-40%, but all reporting seems to die there. I feel that streetwear might be growing even more now, and while it is a niche market, it seems like there would be someone doing a report of some sort. Does anyone have any idea where I might be able to find some numbers? The US Census is cool for generic stuff, and Nielsen requires a crazy pricey membership. Any other reports I've seen are behind a pay wall. I did find this report however, which some of you may find interesting: https://www.mckinsey.com/industries/retail/our-insights/the-state-of-fashion
