[Review] Finally retiring my 5 y/o Docs. Comparison with new ones. Posted: 09 Jul 2018 02:25 PM PDT After 5 years of nearly daily use I'm finally retiring my docs. The heel dip is too steep and their traction is basically gone. These Docs have risen to the occasion whenever I needed them to. Utility/Durability: Considering these were made to be worked in, it's no surprise that this is a functional shoe. I can walk in them all day and barely feel it; good for hiking and city use. I've been able to wear them in summer and winter, rain or shine. The only time I feel I can't wear these is if it's very icy out or like 40C degrees (110F). Five years of rough use has only made me love these more. The leather is softer than it was new, and they feel as if they've practically molded to my feet. These went the first two years without a single polish, after that they got polished every 4-6 months or so. Style: I have found this boot to be exceedingly versatile. Aside from being a handsome boot in it's own right, I find that these Docs work with almost whatever outfit you put them with. Throw on a pair of black laces, give them a polish and you have a nice pair of shoes for a job interview as well. As a bonus I dig their association with the punk movement and I feel that they can even be a statement piece if they're worn with bright yellow laces and a subdued fit. Conclusion: If there ever was a perfect shoe in my opinion this is it. It's hard to find a shoe that is comfortable, durable, and stylish, but these have all three in spades. These have been with me through some of the best and worst moments of my life. I know they're beat up, but I think there's something really beautiful about them. The leather has gotten so soft and supple over the years, and each crease feels like a reminder for me to keep moving forward. It saddens me to know that they won't be joining me on all my new journeys. I don't really know what to do with them, but they've got too much sentimental value to chuck them. I feel like these boots know me better than anyone else in the world. It's silly, but they feel like an old friend. [link] [comments]

[Discussion] Low-Key Aesthetic Anime Apparel? Posted: 09 Jul 2018 06:09 PM PDT As a fan of anime/manga and the Lo-fi aesthetic, I naturally want to express that, but looking at most anime apparel, they're a little too much. I'm struggling to find anything that wouldn't put anyone off or cringe at me by wearing it public i.e this. I was wondering if anyone can point me to the right direction. These are some pieces of clothing that I found that closely fit the shoe. https://www.omocat-shop.com/collections/all/products/sudden-rain-hoodie?variant=8005024197 https://sugoishirts.com/collections/t-shirts/products/security https://gyazo.com/99a37cc557b190b4759f93d1f198b382 So generally a good design that can pass off as street wear. P.S. I know there's another thread asking for the same thing here, but it's 2 years old and most of the sites are either closed or out of stock. [link] [comments]
[DISCUSSION] Any good places to buy in Barcelona? streetwear or high end stores. Posted: 10 Jul 2018 02:28 AM PDT I'm gonna in spain for the summer close to Barcelona and I was wondering are there any good places to check for sneakers or other pieces? Also how much of a problem would pickpockets be, because I've heard they're everywhere? minimum 100 word bodyminimum 100 word bodyminimum 100 word bodyminimum 100 word bodyminimum 100 word bodyminimum 100 word bodyminimum 100 word bodyminimum 100 word bodyminimum 100 word bodyminimum 100 word bodyminimum 100 word bodyminimum 100 word bodyminimum 100 word bodyminimum 100 word bodyminimum 100 word bodyminimum 100 word bodyminimum 100 word bodyminimum 100 word bodyminimum 100 word bodyminimum 100 word body [link] [comments]

[Review] Starwalk x VR sneakers Posted: 09 Jul 2018 04:51 PM PDT Posted this in /r/sneakers a lil while back but figured some people in here might be interested: Starwalk is a footwear brand by fashion icon gab3, and is pretty much the af1 / bapesta but with a different logo and materials. This pair is, to my knowledge, the only starwalk color way to release outside of Tokyo. It's a collaboration with rap group Very Rare, led by Ski Mask the Slump God. Price: these retailed for $180, which is pretty fair imo, especially considering they're 1/100 iirc. Quality: quality is good, not mind-blowing but worth it for the price. The laces are slightly waxed and the leather has become more comfortable as I wear it. There's less padding than a normal af1 but the leather feels nicer so fair trade. Comfort: the insole isn't the most cushioned, as it's leather, but the shoe is certainly more comfortable than vans / some of the designer shoes I've had over the years. Overall I think these are worth the price if you enjoy the design. It's not the most original shoe but I liked the color way and have wanted a pair of star walks for a little while now so I finally pulled the trigger on these [link] [comments]
[NEWS] Grailed Heatwave Drop 3: “The Ten” Posted: 09 Jul 2018 07:57 AM PDT We're celebrating our community this summer with Monday giveaways through Instagram and Thursday drops featuring amazing items from our archive. This Thursday, July 12 we'll be dropping one of the most compelling (and coveted) sneaker collections in recent memory; Virgil Abloh and Nike's "The Ten", at some of the lowest prices since its debut. Given the widespread appeal of the collection—thanks to Abloh's ability to harness the cultural relevance attached to these "icons"—the original 10 sneakers in their original release colorways currently fetch astronomical prices on the aftermarket. In an effort to bring Abloh's thought-provoking design to our users, we're delivering "The Ten" at the best resale prices on the market today. Click the following link for more information on this week's Heatwave drop, and check back on Thursday to shop the collection: https://www.grailed.com/drycleanonly/heatwave-drop-3 [link] [comments]

[DISCUSSION] Pieces to match Off-Whites blue laces Posted: 09 Jul 2018 03:13 PM PDT I recently bought the off white vapormaxes in white, that came with the blue laces. However, none of my clothing matches the blue laces perfectly. Some are close, but still too far off to look good. In my searching, I've been unable to find any pieces that match the laces perfectly. So, now I've turned to you. Has anyone here been able to find any pieces to match? If so, could you be so kind as to pass me a link / point me in the direction of where to find such pieces? I'm grateful for any help and advice [link] [comments] |
