Welcome to the daily WDYWT Thread!

WDYWT = What Did You Wear Today. It doesn't necessarily need to be what you were wearing TODAY. So to start I've been on the sub for a couple years now and have always been really interested in the content of this sub and the creative ideas that it had to offer but as of late I feel like the content of this sub has gone significantly down. Especially when the WDYWT threads started.

Back when the sub did non-whitelisted WDYWT posts it was great, you could see fits in your feed that were dope with other cool stuff. It was a good organization of things and gave everyone an equal opportunity to post a fit at any time and have it seen but now with the daily thread its difficult to get recognized and on top of that now on the feed you only get whitelisted users which aren't able to post very often compared to how many fits we were seeing before. All this kept in mind in the feed of the subreddit you also only get content that is sometimes days old and the same things you saw a day or two ago so there really is no point in checking the subreddit daily. If I could back step to April fools day where memes, and fits were allowed to be posted that is the first time in a while where the subreddit felt like it was young in a way. It was refreshing to see new content whether it be shitposts.

I know i'm not the best writer or that great at getting the point across but what i'm trying to say is to let back the WDYWT independent posts so we wont get a pair of vans that got painted or bleached literally every day. It wont change that those vans will get painted and posted but it will add variety to the mix.

EDIT: After looking through the "new" tab there is a new post every couple hours which is a stupidly low amount and it is: a wdywt post from a whitelisted user, some shoes that were drawn, and some painted vans.

[DISCUSSION] Alpha Industries

Posted: 17 Apr 2018 10:33 PM PDT

This recent thread inspired me to make a brand discussion thread, and to see other perspectives on certain brands. Hopefully this picks up and we can do more of it.

The brand on the table is Alpha Industries, most commonly known today for their red "Remove Before Flight" tag.

Alpha Industries is an American clothing manufacturer founded in 1959 in Knoxville, Tennessee. Initially as a contractor to the United States military, the company grew into an international commercial seller of American military style and fashion apparel. Alpha makes items such as flight jackets and vests, and has made jackets for the military of the United States like the M65 Jacket for over half a century. The jackets are made for men and women, as well as children. Popular models include the MA-1 and CWU-45/P pilot jackets.

I personally love their jackets, although their more "fashion forward" stuff could use improvements. I own their:

  • N2B
  • B15 Slim Fit
  • L2B
  • MA1 Origami
  • Diplomat Fishtail Parka
  • M65 Construct

The last three could all be improved, especially with the fishtail parka, which I regret buying. The MA1 Origami is meant as a travel jacket that can be packed away easily, and takes a lot of time getting to used to it and some breaking in before it's fully ready to use. The M65 Construct is actually missing key features that make the M65 design unique (the hood, extendable handshields, adjustable cuffs, the liner system), which is strange because its MRSP is actually much more than their original M65 jackets, which have all those features. The fishtail just doesn't feel good and even though it's basic, I just can't find any way to rock it.

I question some of their design choices, such as the Fusion Field Coat, Mackinaw Trench Coat, and Outlaw Biker Jacket. They're just weird designs that really require you to live in a fashion forward area for it to actually look good in real life. Some jackets are also just way too military to actually wear unless you're actually in the military.

AI has also done various collabs with brands like Vetements and 424 x Slam Jam.

What do you guys think of AI? What are you personal experiences with them? Are there any other comparable alternatives?
